Getting a job with new misdemeanor

Published

My felony charge from diverting is being dropped to a misdemeanor and ive been in monitoring since October. Is there anyone in Indiana who can tell me where will hire with a recent misdemeanor/monitoring. Im also 20 weeks pregnant so I dont plan on finding anything until after September but wanted to start getting ideas.

yeah, there is a nurse I work with that's in INPRP and she has a felony DWI and they hired her and I have a misdemeanor myself, "obtaining narcotics illegally"

@Indiana RN did you get hired there? Last time we talked you were at nursing home. ? if so congrats! From what ive been told i will have obtaining a narcotic by fraud and posession. Not sure why 2 and i was never caught with anything on me but thats the deal they have given me. Lol

I did get hired on there......finally! lol The LTC facility wasn't too bad but it is what it is and it wasn't my cup of tea! I started with 2 felonies, then they dropped both to a misdemeanor then at my final court date they dropped one completely and kept one. If your ready to get back out there, LTC is always willing to hire....they hire almost anyone! lol

Thats awesome! I work at at a plasma center now (they too hire ANYONE) lol. I plan on staying throughout my pregnancy and then tryong IU health. ? Thanks for the info!

@Indiana RN hey i have another question for you. Ive heard so many different things so i wanted to ask you. After you got your convictions did you call the AG or the board to report the convictions. Ive been told different things. IPRP said the AG would let the board know. Also i havent spoken with anyone from the AG since I got an email saying there was a warrant for my arrest...that was in December. Im not sure if I am supposed to update them. I dont want to bring unecessary attention to myself. I renew in october and was planning on reporting my charges then.

In my case, about 1 week after I was fired I received a call from a detective to come in and give my statement. About 2 weeks after that he called me back and told me I had a warrant and to turn myself in, which I did. About a week after that I received a call and an email from the AG with a date and time to go in front of the BON, which was like a 3-4 day notice.

From the day I was fired and the day I went in front of the BON was 34 days. Did your employer say they were going to report you? Maybe they didn't. From what I've heard and in my case Indiana goes pretty quickly.

Did you self report to INPRP? If you did, maybe you won't need to go in front of the BON.

I do know that when you renew and check yes to the "arrested " question they usually have you go in front of them. I've already been through it all, over a year ago, and I will still be asked to go in front of them AGAIN when I renew, even though I'm already in INPRP and my license is on probation.

@Indiana RN wow that was quick for you! I havent heard a single thing from AG since December and NOTHING from board. My employer filed a complaint. IPLA forwarded thst complaint to AG. Just had my plea deal entered May 1st and was just going to wait to renew in October to report and then hopefully go in front of them after that. I just dont want to get in trouble for not notifying them sooner.

hmmm, that is strange. If you self reported maybe the BON won't be involved. I feel like you've done everything you can do. Your in INPRP and the AG is aware. Honestly I don't know how they could hold anything against you. If it were me, I would email my caseworker for INPRP and see what she says. If she says you don't need to do anything else, print that out ( or screenshot and save like I do) and just keep doing what your doing. BUT like I said, that's just what I would do.

please keep me updated!

@Indiana RN were you reported to NPDB...i got a letter today. Im just hoping this doesnt mean i will be on OIG list.
