Misdemeanor hit and run case but dismissed?

Nurses Criminal

Published

I'm a pre nursing student but I just want to ask this question. So in 2017 I was found at fault of a hit and run in California by my and the other guys insurance company. Anyways, in 2018 we went to court, the guy I hit agreed for me to do community service and the case was dismissed and I was free to leave the court. So my question is I heard that even if the case was dismissed it will still show up on your criminal history report? Do you think this is something that will affect me in any way? thank you

I had a similar charge and was still accepted in my program ?

How did you get community service if it was dismissed? Wouldn't any kind of a sentence require a conviction?

Being admitted to nursing school is the least of your problems. There are schools that are willing to take your money and not care if you're eligible to ever practice nursing.

Your best bet would be to contact the Board of Nursing in whatever state you hope to practice. Find out from them what would disqualify you from being licensed and what you could do now to clean things up.

I think the guy that I hit agreed to have the case be dismissed if I went to community service. Whenever I was done with the service and showed the judge the papers he was like OK your free to go. Then on the court website I checked my case numeber and the status said dismissed. So ya ?

Okay. Interesting. I would still check with the Board of Nursing. If anything shows up on the court website at all, it may be an issue for them. There have been people on this forum that put time and effort and money into nursing school, only to find there were impediments to being licensed.

Good luck!
