getting deployed

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Ok folks... Im back for now. We just got processed for deployment. I got all my shots... Anthrax, yellow fever, ect. But then, they pulled us into a room, one by one, and asked for volunteers to go. Of course, I said HELL NO!! that dont mean that Im not going, just the ones that said yes get pulled first. so far, 5 out of our 30 person unit is going. SO FAR. Anyway, good to be back after 2 weeks, and would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers. IT WORKED!!!

Well its official... For those of you who dont know me, Im a nursing student, and a soldier in the army national guard. I just got ordered today to active duty. I leave on Tues. It sucks because Im so close to being done, and will have to quit school. Meaning, This whole semester wasted, start over another time. Sucks again, because I have two little ones (2yrs old and 4 yrs old) and an active duty army husband, whos not going anywhere, but works 16 hr days. (p.s. its 11:41... hubby still not home from work.)

Guess Im just frustrated and scared. Not for what Ill be doing, (im a nurse in the guard), but for my kiddos. Will miss them much. They are too little to understand that Im coming back eventually, dont want them to think I deserted them, and my 4 yr old sees all the war stuff on tv.

Anyway.. I will return and check in with everyone... Probley change my name to "nurse-n-boots" lol.... Wish me luck!!!! :o

I hope you return very soon and very healthy.

Best of luck to you and your family. I was in the Navy and my husband is still in. He just finished 4 years of sea duty where he was gone most of the time. So, I definately understand what is involved in deploying and being seperated from your loved ones. You are definately appreciated for doing your part.

I will say a prayer for you, your husband and your little guys!

When they get a little older they will understand the sacrifices you have made and they will be soooooo proud!

Thank you all so much for the touching replys. Makes me tear up reading all of them. So far, we have no idea where we are going. Got anthrax and smallpox shot already... (p.s. im certified to give the smallpox too, so will probley be passing those out when I get to where im going) Alot of my other National Guard buddies left last week. Went to Turkey.

Again, thank you all so very much for the prayers and messages of encouragement. Its the folks like yall that make this all worthwhile. I LOVE BEING APPRECIATED!!! Talk to yall later, and will check in every once and awile if I can get to internet access!!

God speed to you, and many, many thanks to you and to everyone leaving family, home and friends.

Thank you so much for your service to our great country. I put 7 1/2 years in the army during Viet Nam, so I am very aware of your sacrifices. Hopefully your life will be back to normal soon. We are here for you, and if we can help in any way, don't hesitate to ask. Best of luck to you and your family.

i appreciate your service and admire your courage. i pray that'll you'll stay safe and return home soon. my godson, who is 19 (sometimes 19 going on 13 is leaving for the mid-east at the end of march). i'll be thinking of you and him and all of the others who go too.
