Getting annoyed with Excelsior

Nursing Students Excelsior

Published

I applied to EC back in September. I have been trying to get some answers to questions I have for them but I continuously get the response of "once you pay your enrollment fee our advisors can answer any questions you may have". Why do I have to give them over a $1000 of my money for them to answer any questions I have about their program. This is becoming quite frustrating and really making me want to consider another program.

I've never gotten a response like that. Then again, I was on the enrollment payment plan. Maybe that's why. Wow. That's crazy.

What are you trying to ask? There is a subgroup on allnurses that may answer your query...

One question was if I take the Information Literacy course with Tor College will it be able to transfer in.

With the payment plan how much did it run you monthly and for how many months?

They won't answer that until you are enrolled. You must have pre approval from a nursing academic advisor. Right now it's accepted but that can change at any moment. If they told you yes as an enrolled student you are grandfathered. As a not yet enrolled student if they said yes and you enrolled in a month and the policy changed it won't count for you.

Especially with info lit that changes frequently compared to other non core courses

Thank you

Excelsior College has 17,000 enrolled nursing students; understandably, they must dedicate their resources to the enrolled students. Also, you are not "locked in" to a curriculum until you enroll, so they really cannot say if Tor will be accepted by the time you enroll. Before enrolling you will be subject to any curriculum changes that occur, including changes in requirements and external course acceptance (CLEP exams, etc.). Right now they are accepting Tor, from what I have seen in the Facebook groups. Next week, who knows?

Theyre still ripping people off I guess.

Thank you

Yeah, it must be the regional and national accreditation and the not-for-profit status that translates into "ripoff"...
