Georgia State University, Fall 2011 Application

Published

I mailed my Fall 2011 GSU nursing application on Jan. 22. The application deadline is March 1st. As we wait, I invite all applicants, traditional or ACE, to post their program gpa and TEAS version V scores and keep others abreast when they receive an applicaton response. Here are mine:

Program GPA: 3.63

TEAS V: 86.0 (Date 1/15/2011)

Percentile Rank - National: 97

Percentile Rank - Program: 94

As we wait,....

I'm not sure how long after acceptance it takes to register, but I do know that classes tend to fill very, very quickly. Especially those needed to get into the nursing program. I wish I had good news about that, but that's definitely something that even I've had problems with before and I've been at GSU for two years now. Good luck!

What about HHS 3000 and NURS 2010? I'm not allowed to register until July 26. The nursing dept said I had a guarenteed spot in the other two courses (NURS 2040 and 2060) but will the other two get full?

@ hopeful44: hamlet is right--registration can be a bit of a challenge, unfortunately, especially when you are finishing up prereqs and core and don't have as much to choose from. If there are still several classes that you "need" and therefore have a little flexibility in what you can take, then you should be able to get a schedule put together. Good luck to you!!

@tuala: I just glanced at those two classes and there aren't tons of seats left, especially in NURS 2010, but maybe the nursing department allows "overflows" for incoming nursing students...?

@everyone still waiting: know that my fingers are still crossed!!

couldn't you join an flc too, where your classes are reserved?

I've looked at the course schedule and all of the core and nursing classes I need all have space available.

What's an flc?

@TUAHLA I'm assuming you are not a freshman, right?? FLCs are for freshmen... they're learning communities where you have the opportunity to join one based on your interests and everybody in the same learning community takes all their classes together, and yes the classes would be reserved for you. I don't think its available to anybody other than freshmen though. I'm echoing what kel3 said as well... for example, last summer I changed my major to nursing I wanted to register to take nurs2010 in the fall. it was full by early June ( that's when I tried to register). I was able to register for HHS 3000 though so it all depends on the course, how many slots are open, and if it's in high demand or not.

No mail today...hoping to find a letter in my box tomorrow!

I GOT MY ACCEPTANCE LETTER TODAY!! I'm in the traditional track and am in disbelief!

I know I have to do the PINS review on Ulearn and get 100%, will that explain how to register for classes or what all goes on as far as registering? Can I go ahead after the review is done or will I even know what classes to take?

Congrats Jen_l71!!! They should have instructions in your acceptance packet about which classes you'll need to register for. Good luck!!

Congrats Jen_171, I'm super excited for you especially since you had such a grueling wait! Yayyy, good luck to you!

Congrats to you, Jen_l71!!! I'm so glad the wait is finally over for you. :)

Thanks guys! And I re-read everything again and saw the course list - I just got so excited that I overlooked the courses! ;) I hope that I can maybe take more nursing classes than the 4 listed since they only add up to 7 credits (I'm taking HHS3000 this summer) and I need 12 to be full time in order to keep my scholarship.
