I mailed my Fall 2011 GSU nursing application on Jan. 22. The application deadline is March 1st. As we wait, I invite all applicants, traditional or ACE, to post their program gpa and TEAS version V scores and keep others abreast when they receive an applicaton response. Here are mine:
Program GPA: 3.63
TEAS V: 86.0 (Date 1/15/2011)
Percentile Rank - National: 97
Percentile Rank - Program: 94
As we wait,....

@ggallo I will be sending in my application soon. I need to pick up my recommendation letter this week. However, I have not taken my TEAS yet and plan on taking it in beginning of Feb. I am so nervous! I always do horrible on my standardized tests. Your TEAS score is very good! Did you study a lot? Good luck!
Thanks for your response. I did study, somewhat intensely from Xmas until the test date. I also took the practice tests through ATI which I recommend. The results identify which areas to focus on to improve your score. A little different from before, the real test results mimic that format by identifying the number answered correctly in each section and indicating which areas gave you trouble. When I took it last June, it didn't do that. This will certainly help to improve scores, especially if an area of study gives you difficulty.
I hope you do well and get accepted into GSU! Stay focused and keep positive!

ggallo- do you go to GSU or are you transferring from another school? how do you like it there? I'm starting as a freshman this fall and i'm nervous! I heard their nursing program is AMAZING
Yes I am currently attending GSU as a 2nd degree student. I'm completing the prereqs. Georgia State is actually a great school with wonderful instruction. The coursework can be challenging but I believe you get out what you put into it; so study hard. Start out with a great gpa and maintain it because you will definitely have to rely partially on it to get into a nursing program. Good luck!
Fall 2011 applicants, please check in!

Thanks for the advice! I have some quick questions for you. Do you volunteer at a hospital? and who did you get those 2 recommendation letters from. I'm afraid that when I go to college I won't have much of a connection with my professors and i know im going to need a recommendation letter from at least one of them
No I don't volunteer. I'm a full-time employee and student. A GSU instructor wrote a letter on my behalf and to satisfy the professional reference, a doctor/friend wrote the second letter.

I have 93 on the TEAS, and a 3.9 GPA. Unfortunately, I'm a procrastinator and don't have my essay done, and a very forgetful teacher has yet to give me a reccommendation...so I might be waiting on spring.
Hi Tuahla. Those are really good numbers! It seems you understand the importance of a quality essay and recommendation letter to compliment your TEAS and gpa. If you need to wait until the spring when you have enough time to produce those items, then that's exactly the right thing to do. I'm sure you want to present the best applicaton packet possible. If time allows you to apply this quarter, please let us know.
Its funny, reference/recommendation letters are more difficult to obtain that one would ever imagine! Good luck!
Hm...is gay marriage too controversial a subject for a "health-care or social issue" for the essay?

I'm taking the TEAS on 2/5/11...can anyone give me any ideas on what to expect? I haven't been in school since grad school in 2005, I'm a little nervous.
You should be fine. I read stories on here that really scared me...but honestly, it didn't seem any harder than the ACT to me. (Which I'm guessing is comparable to the SAT?) If you made it through grad school, you should be fine.
