Published

I mailed my Fall 2011 GSU nursing application on Jan. 22. The application deadline is March 1st. As we wait, I invite all applicants, traditional or ACE, to post their program gpa and TEAS version V scores and keep others abreast when they receive an applicaton response. Here are mine:

Program GPA: 3.63

TEAS V: 86.0 (Date 1/15/2011)

Percentile Rank - National: 97

Percentile Rank - Program: 94

As we wait,....

Specializes in LTC/Rehab.

Hey everyone! Congrats to all who have been admitted and good luck to all of you who are still waiting! I am attending GSU this fall to complete my prerequisites, but I am confused about which GPA the nursing school will be looking at. Program or Institutional???

What is in the Program GPA??? I want to use these GPA calculators, so I can see what my GPA will be but I dont want to put in classes that wont count(like my spanish class, maybe?)

If you have already met your area A,B,C, etc.., and you take extra classes like Psych or Spanish, is that included in the program GPA?

Thanks for reading.

karamarie91: GSU uses program GPA, rather than cumulative. If I am not mistaken, the courses that are required as prereqs are the only courses that count towards your program GPA. Here's a link to the prereqs, in case you need it: http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/1880.html

Once you've been admitted to the school and they get all your info loaded into PAWS, you'll actually be able to just pull your program GPA right up in your academic evaluation. :)

Hope that helps!

I completed the pins review already, what do I do next? Don't know where to register n what to register for? I have 3 more classes 4 summer: the HHS 3300, Nurs 2010, & global issues. my reg date isn't until may 6th for summer. Are we already supposed to register for fall?

Because I'm a transfer student, I'm not able to register until July 26, even though my holds for nursing classes are gone. (I called the nursing department, and they told me that they didn't have any control over when I can register, they could only clear me for nursing classes.) They told me that I do have a spot in the major-only classes, but I'm afraid that the courses that everyone can take (HHS 3000 and NURS 2010) will be gone. Anybody else a transfer student or someone else that has to register late that could tell me what to do?

Oh, and I'm Traditional, of course.

@Tuahla :The only other thing I could suggest is that someone hold the spots for you. I'm not sure if you know someone that attends GSU that could register for the classes that you want until you're able to register for them. Are you able to look at the registration menu and see which section you want to register for?? If so, you can see if someone you know has those time slots open and they can register for the class (hold it) until July 26th when you're able to register. Post the CRNs on this thread and maybe one of us on the site might be able to hold it for you. It's worth the try. =)

@Tuahla: I went ahead and looked at the registration menu and all except one section of nurs2010 is full. There are 6 seats left in the section and it is a thursday class from 1:00-3:30 (CRN: 83444). I tried to register for it, but it wouldn't let me because there is a time conflict with the classes that I've already registered to take in the Fall. I looked at HHS 3000 and there are a bunch of sections still open. Try to find someone who can hold the spots until you're able to register.

@yayaccepted: Since you're a transfer student i'm not sure when you're able to register for fall. I can tell you that current GSU students accepted into the nursing program are able to register for fall classes (I have). You might be able to register as well. Have you gone to Paws and tried to register for the nursing courses yet?

@hamlet- I've gone to PAWS but I'm not too familiar with the system. First, if the classes that i need (hhs3000, nurs2010, & global issues) fill up b4 i get to register, then im not sure if i'll be able to even enter the nursing program (ACE) in the fall.....I don't really like how this is going so far. They know they have a certain number of nursing students coming in the program in the fall n need these pre-reqs, why do they have such a few number of these classes & space avail? It's so hard to get into nursing the programs, i would think they would make it easier for us to fin up needed pre-reqs. as i understand it, we cannot enter the ACE program unless all pre-reqs are satisfied rt? i'm not sure what to do at this pt bcause i cannot even register for my remaining pre-reqs until the beginning of May. R u already attending GSU? If so, is 3 classes a heavy load there for summer? everyone's been so helpful on here, thx a lot:)

@yayaccepted: Yes, I am currently a GSU student. I have taken classes over the summer, and two classes is considered "full time" for the summer semester. I was wondering the same thing last summer when I was in the same predicament. I had recently changed my major to nursing and I wanted to register for NURS2010 for the fall semester around early june. I could not, because all of the slots were full. I have no clue why they don't add more sections of NURS2010 because there is definitely a high demand for it. The only thing i could suggest is that you get someone to hold spots for you until you're able to register for the class yourself. Preferably someone who isn't taking summer courses. You should also call the nursing dept and see what your options are if you are unable to get a spot in one of the classes. Hope this helps.

Hey guys! Just letting you know I got my letter today. Waitlisted for the second semester in a row!!! So I guess I'll continue to play the waiting game. But that's alright I'll be starting at mercer in the fall unless I hear some better news from ga state. Good luck to everyone!!! : )

Thanks, Hamlet. I do know a friend at GSU, I'll ask them if they will...and even if you did get waitlist, getting into Mercer is awesome, congratulations, GSu11! I didn't even apply there, because I didn't think I'd get in.

@Tuahla- You are very welcome. I hope everything works out well for you!

@Gsu11- I'm sure you'll have an amazing experience at Mercer's Nursing school. I would have loved to go if it wasn't so expensive! Good luck with everything!!
