@robine0511-CONGRATS to you!!!!! I knew that you'd get in, but it's such a relief to have that letter in hand, isn't it?!?! Yes, Mercer is an amazing program and you will love it. Thank you for dropping in to share your great news. :) Best of luck to you!!!
@CocoM411-I'm in a completely different boat (independent, 1st degree) so I don't have much to offer...I'm sorry. I haven't yet started knocking out the big list of things to do and pay for. I'm having to put all my energy into finishing up this semester. As soon as I'm done with my last final next Friday, I'm going to hit the ground running on all that stuff!!
I'm looking so forward to meeting everyone at orientation!! :)
Hey Everyone,
Good luck in the program in the fall...looks like I won't b joining u. GSU's summer semester starts a wk before my finals at GPC and I won't be able to swing it since I still have 3 pre-reqs left. I decided to just take my 3 last pre-reqs in the fall along with NUTR 3300, which can later substitute the one that's required for the 1st semester in the ACE program. That way, I'll have a total of 4 classes in the fall and be able to lighten my load in the spring with one less class. Please keep me in mind for any of you that start this fall and want to sell ur books when the semester is over. And pls continue to post whenever you have a spare moment, to fill us in on your progress and any pointers you may have. Thanks so much and I wish you all much success in whatever program or school you choose to go to:)
@yayaccepted: So you won't begin nursing school at all this fall? I thought you had decided you would go to Emory...or is that still a possibility for the fall? Keep in mind that though there are maymester classes that begin in a couple of weeks, the regular GSU summer semester doesn't begin until June. I transferred from GPC to GSU last summer as well...so long as you aren't trying to go maymester, it isn't a problem.
Did you already relinquish your spot with GSU so that one of the wait-listed candidates can be notified?
Best of luck to you!!
It looks like our incoming class is complete--they have posted our admission stats on the website, here: http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/adm_stats.asp (at the very bottom).
The competition was definitely tough--not just with GPA and TEAS scores, but there were lots of applicants as well. From our little sample here, I felt certain that our class would have strong numbers. Now we've all got to translate that into being stellar nursing students...and eventually really great nurses. :)
Best of luck to you guys as we all finish up finals--personally, I've never been so ready for a semester to end in my life!!!! I'm ready to enjoy my summer. Oh, and to get started on this To Do list for nursing school, of course.
BTW--Just in case and of the ACErs don't already know, try to take the nutrition class this summer if you can...it'll be one less class for the fall!!
Can't wait to meet everyone in August!!!!! :clpty:
From what has been said in previous threads (from current ACE students--Fall 2010 thread is one that I remember it being mentioned a few times in) as well as two people who live here in my condo community (one 2009 grad and one current A2 student) getting nutrition out of the way is definitely advised. I've never heard anyone say anything but that the first semester, in particular, is incredibly busy and overwhelming...I want my load to be as light as possible. Plus, I'm going to trust current and former ACEers who've "been there" on this one.
I'm finishing the course up now, and while it hasn't been difficult, I wouldn't want to have to worry with it while also trying to stuff pathophysiology and pharmacology (among others!!) into my brain.
I'm sure that anyone who decides to take it in the fall has good reasons...I really just wanted to make other posters aware of the possibility of knocking it out prior to nursing school. Had someone not made the suggestion to me, I wouldn't have known to go ahead and do it. :)
@Kel3- I sure did give up my spot in the ace program since i thought gsu's summer semester started on May 6th! It's o.k though because I really want to take my 3 pre-reqs and the nutr class in the fall. that would b my first semester at gsu and it would def lessen the load for my 1st semester in the ace program if i go next spring. also i didn't want to overwhelm myself rt now since I haven't had a semester off since 09'. if really haven't made a definite decision about emory or gsu yet but more than likely it will be gsu next spring. i've already talked to a nursing admissions advisor n she said my scores r very high so she doesn't think i will have a prob getting in if i reapply for spring. if i go to emory, it would mean 3 classes in the summer at gpc then straight into the program at Emory which is 5 days a week with no real break. i just need my family to get out of this in one whole piece if you know what i mean:) im really not sure yet about emory but i have to make a decision b4 summer classes start at gpc. i am really excited for you guys! good luck
shicurls- hmm....i wonder why it won't let u, u should b able to if ggallo was able to since ur both accepted. the advisor told me 3300 will substitute for 3200 in the program. also fr previous posts, some students say it's very similar, if not the same exact course. c what u can find out and worst case, u can take 3300.
anyone mind posting the to do list? ex...vacinations, what type of cpr class, etc., etc. they removed my pins review since i relenquished my spot. i should've printed out that stuff first so i can try to work on all of that this summer while im off. if anyone can do that 4 me, i sure would appreciate it :)
