Georgia State Perimeter College Spring 2020

Published

Hey peers,

I wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students who applied for admissions into the spring of 2020 program. I was denied for admissions into the Fall of 2019 and my application was updated by the admin for consideration for the spring semester. I am re-taking the TEAS-exam over this summer to boost my chances as only 60 students are selected for the spring and 80 for the fall.

My stats when I applied for the Fall of 2019 was:

3.8- General Ed

3.45- Science

3.72-Overall GPA

Teas- 70.5%

My Stats for the Spring of 2020

3.88-General Ed

3.57-Science

3.74-Overall GPA

Teas- Retaking

As of the Summer of 2019- I will have all nursing pre-requisites complete, including the new Psych 2103- Intro to human development. I just graduated on the 7th with my Associate of Science degree with high honors but it seems to me that having all pre-reqs complete and a high gpa doesn't guarantee admissions as long as your Teas score and science gpa is competitive.

Thereon, share your stats ladies and keep God in your prayer as he has chosen us to pick this field and nursing is very rewarding, working as CNA and Medtech for 4 years has really opened my love for the field. Yes at times the workload is very heavy and draining but I wouldn't give up the time I spent with my patients, nurses and their family members for the world. Caring for others is my calling and I know God called each of us for this ?

Hey everyone, Having this thread is AMAZING!! This is my first time applying for the nursing program. I submitted my application 2 months ago, so I feel like I have been waiting for literally forever!! Will everyone be posting on here once they receive their acceptance letters?! I would love to see everyone's great news. I know we aren't supposed to hear anything until end of September but it could be sooner, right? :) I only have one prerequisite left (microbiology) which I start in 2 weeks. What grade did yall make in this course? I have been out of school for a few years and not too sure what to expect. Thanks for any advice and good luck!!

My GPA is 3.65

TEAS 80.7

I'm a little nervous seeing everyone else's stats but praying for good news.

Hi there! Your stats are pretty solid. Have you done A&P yet? Microbiology wasn't too bad. I did the lecture online and the lab at night twice a week while working full time, and with a kid and my husband at home, and I got an A. Don't let yourself get behind and you'll be okay. Most of the past years hear back the last week of September, but last year it did come a couple of weeks earlier. I wouldn't count on much until the deadline though! And I'm sure that people will be posting about their acceptances on here. Best of luck!

Thanks for the response Monkeyshines. I have taken A&P , however it was a little over 2 years ago Soo I'm a little rusty lol Thanks for the advice for Micro. This wait feels like forever. Is this your first time applying to the program?

If you want AP catchup, watch Crash Course on youtube! Their videos are so good for refreshing the basics. I plan to go through them again before starting the program itself.

The wait does feel like forever, and nope, not my first time. I applied and got into the fall semester that starts next week, but I declined my spot. Hoping I get good luck this second time around too!

Are you goint to apply to the spring 2020 semester?

Does anyone know a cost of the program?

Stats

GPA: 3.6

TEAS: 78 overall.

oh yeah Monkeyshines I'll for sure check out crash course to refresh. I watched so much crash course studying for the TEAS lol.

Best of luck to you! The more I think about the program the more nervous I get. I literally only applied to this progam, so no back up plans over here.

Did anyone apply to other schools as well as GSU?

Ethegifted - I am not sure of the cost of the program. I had a paper that broke it down from when I went to the nursing info seminar months back and can't seem to find it anywhere. ? I'll worry about that once I get my acceptance letter lol

Yeah, I'm applying to the spring semester as well. I too can't seem to find my paperwork of the cost breakdown. But I think it was somewhere around $7000. I know from my acceptance paperwork from last time that there are several things you have to pay for shortly after acceptance:

Skills pack: $191 I think

Uniform: Scrub tops $40 apiece scrub bottoms $16 apiece

Books: right around $1000 but it's for the whole program. My friend starts tomorrow and she's attempting to just rent the books as needed, so I'm curious to see how that works for her.

Background check and drug screen: somewhere around $100

Passport photo: around $15 I think

A variety of vaccinations: However much it costs to get you fully updated according to their guidelines, and also a physical from your doctor

Maybe one other thing, the clinical matching software, but I don't have that paperwork with me either naturally and I can't remember if there was a cost for it.

Stethoscope and blood pressure cuff: whichever ones you get determines the cost. That and a pen light and shoes and a watch and that kind of stuff.

So all that, plus tuition and fees for each semester get you your costs. Still way cheaper than most any other program!

I was going to apply to Chattahoochee Tech as well, and even applied to the school itself, but I changed my mind after I got accepted to perimeter's program.

HEY everyone,

I started this thread back in May when I got rejected in April and by some miracle my application was re-evaluated and I got accepted in June of 2019. The rejection letter stated that I was still being considered and second rounds of letters will occur in June if I am chosen or someone gives up their seat. I just finished my orientation and I just happen to see letters for the spring of 2020 program being sent out, when I stopped by to hand in my classes to complete before my last semester in the program, but they were in the rejection envelopes that I got in April, it looks like letters will be out soon to you all soon.

If you are denied, hold tight And do not lose hope , if someone gives up their seat , you can still get in for the Spring like I did for the Fall . Also Plan, plan ahead, I had to quit my job due to clinicals, skills lab and simulation. The first week is a lot already but everyone feels like family. Make sure you guys are on top of your immunization, I would recommend getting passport photo done now at Walgreens or CVS to confirm your seat, and get a titer for Hepatis B vaccine, and your TB done.

Good luck everyone's, sending blessing your way .

Everything and anything is possible I feel you believe ❤️

Monkeyshines Thanks for the break down!!

Jennychi24- While reading your post my heart started racing! So, the rejection letters are being sent out first- Is that what you saw? Do you know how many people are accepted for spring?

Also, Congratulations to you for getting in for fall and for the positive words of encouragment.
