Georgia State Perimeter College Spring 2020

Published

Hey peers,

I wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students who applied for admissions into the spring of 2020 program. I was denied for admissions into the Fall of 2019 and my application was updated by the admin for consideration for the spring semester. I am re-taking the TEAS-exam over this summer to boost my chances as only 60 students are selected for the spring and 80 for the fall.

My stats when I applied for the Fall of 2019 was:

3.8- General Ed

3.45- Science

3.72-Overall GPA

Teas- 70.5%

My Stats for the Spring of 2020

3.88-General Ed

3.57-Science

3.74-Overall GPA

Teas- Retaking

As of the Summer of 2019- I will have all nursing pre-requisites complete, including the new Psych 2103- Intro to human development. I just graduated on the 7th with my Associate of Science degree with high honors but it seems to me that having all pre-reqs complete and a high gpa doesn't guarantee admissions as long as your Teas score and science gpa is competitive.

Thereon, share your stats ladies and keep God in your prayer as he has chosen us to pick this field and nursing is very rewarding, working as CNA and Medtech for 4 years has really opened my love for the field. Yes at times the workload is very heavy and draining but I wouldn't give up the time I spent with my patients, nurses and their family members for the world. Caring for others is my calling and I know God called each of us for this ?

Ok, also today my husband came inside saying the mail was here and something came from me from GSU. He was taking a long time to answer and I kept saying is it big or small?!? He said it was a big envolope ( I couldnt see because I was in the kitchen putting away groceries) anyway he was joking and I almost hurt him.. still cannot believe he did that to me. ?

OMG... that is such a cruel joke to play at this time... but glad that he is being hopeful for you at the same time... I hope you do get a big envelope.

Hi..All

Im so anxious and I really am hoping to get into the program for spring 2020. My best friend is in this Fall 2019 cohort. She was very disappointed at the amount of students that dropped the program, She said there are currently 11 spots that could have been filled. People decided within the ADD/DROP week the nursing program was not for them and some could not make it financially. She said many thought that they could still work but its impossible if your job is not flexible. The first 3 weeks they basically told them we "own you." She didn't work at all for the first 2 weeks unless it was weekend or after 5pm most days. I also believe that the program is quite costly and they are very strict on the requirements and what they want. The checklist that they have given us is very accurate and its wise to start saving as much as possible.

On the plus side she did say that for those that need medical stuff and vaccinations done, that you need to use the school clinic and make appointments asap upon receiving their packets. I see her in the program, and its only week 3 and its a lot of work, but she really is enjoying it. Im praying that we all get in.

Hi guys it's the 10th has anyone heard anything different? I'm so sick and tired of waiting. I really don't have very many people that understand how I feel.I'm trying to stay busy with my other classes but it's so hard because I always find myself right back to thinking about these acceptance letters. What are you guys doing to occupy your time?

Hey... No I haven't heard anything either... hopefully by the end of this week... but I'm figuring of ways to rule the world to keep my mind off of the letters... lol.. jk... I haven't been able to take my mind off of it either.

Hey @Tonisha90 and @BMuas I haven't heard anything either ? I'm having the same issue.. I am ready to have an answer already! I am just trying to stay busy, but of course it doesnt help because everyday I run to check the mail and still no news. I almost went into the nursing department today to ask but decided against it because of what they told you last time. Praying we find out by the end of this week also.

Count me in as one as one who is obsessively checking the mail! Hopefully we all hear something soon.

And the wait continues.... Lets stay positive! We all got in, right?! ?

@hungrydani90 Yes the wait continues. I looked at the spring 2019 thread and people started to post their decisions September 17, 2018, so I been trying to hold off thill then.

Hi all,

I'm anxious to receive notification from GSU Perimeter Nursing program as well. You guys have some great Gpa's and Teas scores. My stats are:

BIOL gpa is 3.25

Teas test score in Reading 80.9% and in Math 84.4%. Cumulative Gpa of 3.15 in courses listed under Nursing General Education.

Gsu perimeter college GPA is 3.0 (b/c I was originally a biology major which heavily affected my gpa).

I graduated with my associates of science from GSU Perimeter Spring 2019.

I'm hopeful on being accepted and wish you all the best.

Hey, I was curious to know if anyone had an idea of what the schedule for the nursing program was like? Is it 3 days a week? times?

I was in Micro this summer with someone in the Spring 2019 cohort. She said it’s 3-4 days a week the first semester, one of those is a clinical day. She didn’t give me a good idea on hours, but she made it sound like it was pretty much 9:00-3:00 or 5:00 on those days.

Your first week , you will be at school for 5 days, the next week you will be at school for 3 or 4 days depending on when you are schedule for lab or skills ! Then it will Be twice a week or 3 . And fundamentals is 7-8hrs , Mental health is 3hrs, the hours for skills lab varies because you get to choose when you will like to have skills such as 8-12 or 1-5 for example .

Be prepared to read a lot
