Georgia State Perimeter College Spring 2020

Published

Hey peers,

I wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students who applied for admissions into the spring of 2020 program. I was denied for admissions into the Fall of 2019 and my application was updated by the admin for consideration for the spring semester. I am re-taking the TEAS-exam over this summer to boost my chances as only 60 students are selected for the spring and 80 for the fall.

My stats when I applied for the Fall of 2019 was:

3.8- General Ed

3.45- Science

3.72-Overall GPA

Teas- 70.5%

My Stats for the Spring of 2020

3.88-General Ed

3.57-Science

3.74-Overall GPA

Teas- Retaking

As of the Summer of 2019- I will have all nursing pre-requisites complete, including the new Psych 2103- Intro to human development. I just graduated on the 7th with my Associate of Science degree with high honors but it seems to me that having all pre-reqs complete and a high gpa doesn't guarantee admissions as long as your Teas score and science gpa is competitive.

Thereon, share your stats ladies and keep God in your prayer as he has chosen us to pick this field and nursing is very rewarding, working as CNA and Medtech for 4 years has really opened my love for the field. Yes at times the workload is very heavy and draining but I wouldn't give up the time I spent with my patients, nurses and their family members for the world. Caring for others is my calling and I know God called each of us for this ?

Hi, I recently got admitted. I have a million questions lol. I just tried joining the facebook page.

Hi! What were your stats and did you receive a second letter?

Hello, Did anyone who got in and got the nurse pack from Meridy's for the Georgia Perimeter ASN and use everything in it? Was it worth it? I've looked at prices online and it looks like I could assemble it myself for half the price. Probably already have several of the items. And the rest seem extremely overpriced for what they are priced elsewhere online. Did it seem vital the exact kit? (Being that some items are basic: Paper mask, protective eyeglasses, etc...)

Does anyone want to sell your pre-owned supplies? Sell uniforms. Appreciate any comments! TIA!

The Nurse pack , you will not get until your orientation. And it is mandatory to have because it was made specifically for our program and the needles, IV bags , and trac set, catheter set for skills and more , were picked out specifically for our school , including the bag which the emblem on it . Every single one of my classmates have one , yes, you can buy basic essentials to fill it back up , but I promise you I’m in my second semester and we did not use half of the bag yet ? so it’s good for a year or two . It is highly expensive but it’s needed for skills labs

JennyChi already filled you in on the skills pack, so I won't go over that.

For uniforms, you *might* be able to find one used. My guess is no though. Honestly, they get a bit worn out. It's a white top that you wear 1-2 times a week depending on if you have one or two sets. You can't wash it very hot because the red on the decal will leach. So eventually, they aren't quite as white as they originally were. The pants you can save money on: you can do an amazon search for the specific item number listed on the Meridys site to find the product on amazon. Make sure you only get the styles they have listed, since they don't like you getting other stuff. The benefit of doing this on amazon is you can do trial and error to get your proper fit. I've found the sizing on the pants is very strange, and it took me a few tries to get the right fit. Mostly, they're huge. I'm a M in normal sizes but I wear XS in these scrubs. Also you really don't need the lab coat. The benefit of it is if you want to wear something long sleeved to clinical, since you aren't allowed to wear a jacket. Nobody really does this though; we mostly just wear under scrubs under our tops.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I don’t know how I missed this comment. Thank you so much! This is great information; I’m going to share it in our group. Thanks again!
