Hey peers,
I wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students who applied for admissions into the spring of 2020 program. I was denied for admissions into the Fall of 2019 and my application was updated by the admin for consideration for the spring semester. I am re-taking the TEAS-exam over this summer to boost my chances as only 60 students are selected for the spring and 80 for the fall.
My stats when I applied for the Fall of 2019 was:
3.8- General Ed
3.45- Science
3.72-Overall GPA
Teas- 70.5%
My Stats for the Spring of 2020
3.88-General Ed
3.57-Science
3.74-Overall GPA
Teas- Retaking
As of the Summer of 2019- I will have all nursing pre-requisites complete, including the new Psych 2103- Intro to human development. I just graduated on the 7th with my Associate of Science degree with high honors but it seems to me that having all pre-reqs complete and a high gpa doesn't guarantee admissions as long as your Teas score and science gpa is competitive.
Thereon, share your stats ladies and keep God in your prayer as he has chosen us to pick this field and nursing is very rewarding, working as CNA and Medtech for 4 years has really opened my love for the field. Yes at times the workload is very heavy and draining but I wouldn't give up the time I spent with my patients, nurses and their family members for the world. Caring for others is my calling and I know God called each of us for this ?

@hungrydani90 There technically isn’t a “waitlist” for the associate program at perimeter unfortunately. They have 60 seats in total for spring, so they sent out 60 acceptances in September and everyone else got denials. If people did not accept their admissions, then those seats are open and and then people who got denied have a chance at getting an acceptance!
I think there’s about 8 seats still open based on an email sent to only about 52 people!!
@smile oh yeah I know there isnt an actual waitlist I just call the waitlist the people waiting to get in. lol
what email was sent out and why to only 52 people? OHH wait are you saying that they accept 60 but only 52 have accepted their seats and everyone who confirmed their spot got a confirmaion email. Or what do you mean exactly?

The people who were admitted and accepted their spots were sent an email with info on the program. There were 52 people that the email was sent to, so the assumption is that there are 8 spots remaining. So hopefully some other people will get a chance!
Hi everyone although I would love to get into the program I’ve started with my plan B. I emailed Renee Creel and she said my application was good it was just the fact that I earned a C in A&P1 both lab and lecture. Today I registered to take it again in spring 2020 and I may even retake the teas. I plan to apply to nursing again for fall 2020. I’ve gone to school for two years no breaks maybe I need time to get myself together IDK just trying to look at it glass half full. To people that didn’t get in my advice is to take the classes for the BSN and if you done like I am retake classes you didn’t do well in or retake the teas. Good luck to everyone who got into the program and those who didn’t our time is coming.

I also asked if there was anything I can do to better my chances of getting in. She told me no and to just try applying to other Nursing schools too. It is just that competitive all around I guess. I am also thinking abt retaking my teas.

I’d take that over retake a&p 1 any day. Look at Middle Georgia state University it is nationally accredited and there BSN program is only one semester longer than here. The teas is only to rank as proficient and they accept 100 students. Best of luck to you.
No new or good news over this way. I did email Ms. Creel today regarding if she could give me any recommendations or insight in how to improve my application for fall. She just advised me to finish my humanities class to replace an older one. Which.....is the exact class I’m taking this semester. She said i didn’t need to retake the TEAS. Other than that she didn’t have any recommendations.
So being as I’ve finished all the pre-reqs....I’m not entirely sure what to do and the email wasn’t entirely helpful. I’m reapplying too all the ADN/BSN nursing schools I meet requirements for in the area. But they all have slightly different requirements or require volunteer hours or entrance exams which makes it hard to choose just one to focus on. So it’s hard for me not to feel like I’m starting way back at square one all over again.

Hi Jenny,
I know this thread is a few months old, but I was hoping you could help me under the calculation of your overall vs General Ed GPA. Mrs. Creel did confirm that only courses used towards Nursing are calculated and considered so I'm trying to understanding what additional courses were factor in to the overall GPA?

@Kuvesh86 @BMuas I thought people were saying at the beginning of october that they received emails stating they got in on the waitlist? Is that now what it says in this thread? I must of misunderstood what they were saying about getting emails. Maybe thats good news and we still have a chance!
