Georgia State Perimeter College Spring 2020

Published

Hey peers,

I wanted to start a thread for pre-nursing students who applied for admissions into the spring of 2020 program. I was denied for admissions into the Fall of 2019 and my application was updated by the admin for consideration for the spring semester. I am re-taking the TEAS-exam over this summer to boost my chances as only 60 students are selected for the spring and 80 for the fall.

My stats when I applied for the Fall of 2019 was:

3.8- General Ed

3.45- Science

3.72-Overall GPA

Teas- 70.5%

My Stats for the Spring of 2020

3.88-General Ed

3.57-Science

3.74-Overall GPA

Teas- Retaking

As of the Summer of 2019- I will have all nursing pre-requisites complete, including the new Psych 2103- Intro to human development. I just graduated on the 7th with my Associate of Science degree with high honors but it seems to me that having all pre-reqs complete and a high gpa doesn't guarantee admissions as long as your Teas score and science gpa is competitive.

Thereon, share your stats ladies and keep God in your prayer as he has chosen us to pick this field and nursing is very rewarding, working as CNA and Medtech for 4 years has really opened my love for the field. Yes at times the workload is very heavy and draining but I wouldn't give up the time I spent with my patients, nurses and their family members for the world. Caring for others is my calling and I know God called each of us for this ?

Hi everyone! I am very happy that I was finally able to apply for the Spring 2020 nursing program! My stats aren't that great, but I am not worried and still have hope that God will make a way if it is meant to be!

Teas: 78.7

Science GPA: 3.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.04 (Will go up once I retake statistics)

Hi, I was waitlisted for the fall semester of 2019 in April and got accepted in June for the fall semester of 2019 because I scored a 70.5 % on my teas but my overall GPA, nursing pre-read and science are competitive, I had a 3.72 GPA, 3.45 Science and 3.86 nursing pre-req score. Don't lose hope , and keep a positives mind set, because I would have never thought I would have still been considered for the fall 2019 since I was denied in April, this acceptance letter took me by surprise ? Dr.Creel update my application for spring of 2020 but I guess the nursing team had a change of heart due to opening spaces. God bless you and good luck . God will always make way , just pray ❤️

Hi everyone!

I just submitted my application for Spring 2020! I started this journey 14 years ago but then life got in the way and I had to put my goal on hold. I have 12 years experience as a medical assistant and am now in a better position to make school a priority. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you as we anxiously wait to hear back on our status! Good luck!

Overall GPA: 3.91

Science GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 83.7

I have 3 more pre-requisites to take which I am registered to take in the fall (the new psych, history and philosophy)

Hi everyone I am currently a Health Science Professions Major at GSU Perimeter College so I have taken many more classes than needed, but after speaking to someone from the nursing department only the classes needed for the program will be calculated. I am sooooooo happy because my stats are wayyyyyyy better.

I feel you on being relieved at how they calculate the GPA! I have a previous bachelors with a lot of extra credits (calculus, physics, computer engineering) that really screw with my cumulative GPA. Luckily my prereq GPA is good though so that's all that matters!

Hey hey! You should be good for getting in, your stats are great! And I can definitely feel you on making school a priority. I'm SUCH a better student now than I was for my first degree. I hope the new psych goes well! I'm hoping to take it sometime while in the nursing program.

Hi Everyone

So encouraging to see all of you that are so motivated and those that did get accepted into the program. Im so overwhelmed by how competitive the program is and was really gutted not to get into the Fall 19' program. While I test in 11 days for the Teas Im still so nervous, about what the outcome will be and to be rejected again.

Teas 64

Overall GPA is 3.36. Not Sure what my science GPA is. Goodluck to all

Hey everyone!

I applied myself last night for Spring of 2020. Graduated High school in 2003 and college with my first degree in 2007. I’ve wanted to be a nurse probably since then, but life always gets in the way. But I’ve been doing really well in classes since coming back in 2017 so I decided to just go for it.

It’s weird because I remember coming to these forums and reading stories about people applying for nursing school back then and finally here I am applying myself.

Overall I'm a bit fuzzy on my stats. I was told by Ms. Creel that any of the pre req classes that I took back on 2003 and again in 2010 that I didn’t do so well in would be calculated into my GPA for consideration.

Science GPA: 3.5

Overall GPA: Who Even knows because Ms. Creel came back with one totally different than what’s on PAWS with grades factored in from 2003.

TEAS: 89.3 taken 7/23/19

So I’m hoping my TEAS score and the Science GPA makes me competitive. I’m nervous but excited at the same time.

One thing I was wondering is.... Is there any sort of online portal where we can check our status or is it just relying on regular letters through mail?

You will be fine, I didn't get in the first round of letters because of my teas score which was an 70.5% overall ! My GPA is pretty high, 3.74 overall and 3.88 for nursing core curriculum . I was denied in April of this this year and received an packet in June, I was so shocked I dropped because Mrs.Creel had updated my application for the Spring of 2020, Don't lose hope or feel bad if you get an denial letter, I was denied and it stated they will send a second round of letters in June, thankfully I somehow was given a spot after I was denial .

Its a long wait but congratulations to you for taking another step towards your goal and not giving up ?

Nope, no portal for it. We'll get letters sometime in September I think, and that's the only notification there will be. It'll be a small letter if you're denied, and a big packet of info if you're accepted. Easy enough to tell before you even open it.

I've done a couple of the info sessions, and Renee has said that they only take pre-req GPA into account. My GPA from my first BS is just barely over 3.0, but my prereq GPA is 3.7. Makes a big difference! So you should be fine there. With that, plus your TEAS score, I would think that you should have a great shot at getting in!

And I understand how exciting it is to finally be in a board for the semester you're applying in! I've been reading these for a while now and it feels almost surreal to finally be here!

Hi everyone,

It's great to see that there is a post for Perimeter College Spring hopefuls. The application deadline is done and now it is just time for the dreadful wait. I hope that we all get in and they don't take too long to respond back to us. I am so nervous as this is my first time applying to Perimeter College. I have taken all my courses and have none left to take.

My stats aren't that great either, so I am praying I can be squeezed in. Overall GPA is: 3.76 I don't know what my science GPA is and my TEAS score was a 75.

Praying we all get in.?

I'd say your stats are promising! 3.76 is definitely not bad. Good luck to you! I know I'm counting down the days until the end of September.
