Hello! I am an applicant for the nursing program at Georgia Highlands College for Spring 2011. I was just wondering if there was anyone else on here that is hoping to be accepted to the college as well. Does anyone know the typical schedule, cost, etc.? What were the average scores on the nursing worksheets that were accepted last spring and for this coming Fall 2010 semester?
oh gosh!!!!!!!!!! congrats!!!!!!!!!! now i'm even more anxious for the mail...poor mailman will think i'm stalking him today! i'm in cartersville though, so i may not get mine today.
i tried to figure my score but b/c i have two W's from a medical withdrawl in Fall 2008, i'm not sure how those will play in, i missed drop/add by like a week. and then there's the whole missing micro/poli sci that i'm in now. but all my grades i do have are really good, all A's except a B in pych and a B in phil, but like the poster above i took the ACT instead of the SAT, so how does that play in. i don't know what areas i can improve my score in if i don't get in, outside of the inclusion of the classes i'm in now. just too many variables for me. i should have talked to an advisor again before applying, it's been a while since i've talked to one.
Good question - I've had a hard time in the past with other colleges not accepting transfer credits due to different abbreviations (i.e. at UGA microbiology is MIBO and other colleges just have it listed as a BIOL course). I already have a bachelor's degree and a decent job (pays bills and some) but my heart just isn't in this. I'm going to just stick it out another few months and apply for North GA College & State and Dalton State. I'll probably watch out for Chattahoochee Tech's accrediation. I may even look at Texas schools - boyfriend is moving soon. I'm waiting on Hope to e-mail me back with the "unfinished/missing" classes. I just have this gut feeling it's the same ole' story as the other 2 colleges. I'm still very young so I got lots of trials ahead of me and I've got lots of family support so I'm just gonna keep on truckin'.
Good luck to everyone today! I was accepted at Chatt Tech and have decided to go ahead with that program. I'm still interested to know if I had a chance at GAHighlands though. Lesuga, I'm sorry that you didn't get in this year. You should have applied to Chatt Tech, I am confident that they will get the accreditation following their first graduating class this May. Graduating a NLN passing class is standard procedure with any new nursing program. Apparently, their LPN program is quite respected and on the recommendation of many nurses, I've decided that the risk is minimal. Also, Georgia Medical College has a very intriguing direct entry MSN program for anyone currently holding a bachelor's degree from a discipline other than nursing. It's 16 months and you have a Clinical Nurse Leader Master's degree. If I lived closer, I'd take that option in a heartbeat.

You're telling me! I can't wait for my mail to run today. Since I along with everyone else i know thought i got into nursing school already it is very nerve-racking. I'm not worried about what i'll do if I get rejected I just really want to know what the answer is! I'm just tired of waiting. I never got to do my score because i took the act and i don't know how they converted my score. I Just hope the mail comes before i have to go to work! best wishes to all of you. hopefully some of us will get to meet each other in the next few months and work together in nursing school and in the future! again Best wishes!!!
