  1. It has been 4 years since I took A&P - so not really too long, but would be desirable as a refresher course.
  2. It's been a while since I took it and I want to get a refresher (plus I LOVE anatomy). I've got a plan for after nursing school that may entail me needing the anatomies from North Georgia instead of where I took them from prior. I'm nervous about starting classes... it feels like forever since I've studied or anything!
  3. Okay! I was very confused. :) I do think I want to re-take anatomy if they'll let me... I also want to see if they will allow me to do an independent study. After I graduate I will be moving out of state and that particular state requires you to have a specific course that is not offered anywhere!
  4. How do you know all this!? I feel so lost - I thought I had to meet back at the campus on the 16th to register. Wow - I'm so confused!!
  5. I sent in all of my stuff - so, what's our next step? Just orientation on the 11th of August! So excited to meet my future classmates! Anyone at Dahlonega?
  6. I had called a while back for information on the "more to come packet". When I spoke with the office they said they are changing companies for some of the information (drug test companies, etc) and they are waiting for the contracts to finalize before they sent us the stuff. They said it could take a month or two for us to receive it all. Just wanted to give you all a heads up! :)
  7. I've never been wait-listed. I don't think they look at overall GPA either - I think it's just a few specific classes. I'm surprised you were wait-listed... what campuses did you put?
  8. Anyone going to be in Dahlonega? My "stats" were a 3.43 GPA and an 86 TEAS test. So, do any of you guys know what is next? We just send in our confirmation and... do they send us more info? Eeek! So excited! I, too, have been trying for two years... those that got a waiting list keep pushing and don't give up. It doesn't mean that you aren't supposed to do nursing, but that God's has another time for you to do it... I've been through that, too! Good luck!
  9. Me too! I'm going to be at the Dahlonega campus! Anyone else going to be there?? Yay and congrats to you all!
  10. Okay, I won't check my mailbox... except I'm waiting on a bill (fun, huh?). I suppose it could wait until Monday. If any of you all hear from the school today, tomorrow or even Monday, please let me know! I'll be there in a flash to check my mailbox out!
  11. So, nothing today. I'm going to be brave tomorrow and NOT go to the mailbox. I'm driving myself crazy! So... if any of y'all go to the mailbox tomorrow and have a letter - let me know! I'll check the mail again on Saturday. I'm so stinkin' nervous... I'm hoping for the best for all of us!!
  12. I had some pretty cruddy professors at UGA, too... I think that's everywhere. But, where I work a few women told me that it's fine and they'd have no problem hiring a nursing student from there (I work with RNs, LPNs, and CNPs). So, as far as my "heresay" goes - I've heard more positive than negative things. I didn't check my mailbox today - too lazy since it's at the front of the apartment complex, but will be checking it quite frequently now! Do you think they'd send them out today and just "trick" us that they will be sent out at the end of the week?!? That'd be cruel... well, we're getting close! Best of luck to you ALL!!!!
  13. She went there a while ago, but as far as her opinion on the school... I think it comes from a professional perspective, not a student perspective. When I was talking about the different schools I was going to apply to North Georgia never crossed my mind (I didn't know they had a nursing program). That is when she started talking about the value of the program and such. If you look up the NCLEX pass rate, it's just as high as the other schools in Georgia. I compared it to West Georgia because that was where EVERYONE was telling me to apply (I didn't because it's 2 hours from "home") and it was exactly the same (89%). To give you a general idea - MCG has a 90% pass rate, Kennesaw has a 91% and Mercer has an 88% pass rate. I hope this gives you some peace of mind. I just think the school isn't as widely known and remember "it takes ten positives to overcome one negative" so it's hard to build up a widely known, great reputation.
  14. I've been on edge for the last 3 months! This last two weeks is total torture... I've heard different things about the college, but from a North GA Alum, I was highly encouraged to apply. She is actively working as an RN and recommended North GA without any questions or doubt. I think it gets the "short end of the stick" because it is a smaller school and it's more recognized as a military school in the "boonies". My mom is an RN and seems to have no problems with the school either... I think the school and the education is what you make of it anyways. I have friends who went to schools that others may deem "inadequate" like ABAC and they are making more than my friends from bigger schools like UGA or GA TECH. So, I think it just all depends! I think we'll all be outstanding. Keep our chins up and I pray I get to meet you all as nursing students!!!
  15. ashleno - I was in the same boat. I applied twice and spoke to Fran personally on several occassions. However, my mom is an RN in the Kennesaw area and had several nursing students come into her office. They were unimpressed with the Kennesaw program and gave me peace of mind for not getting in. I feel blessed as of right now, even without knowing about acceptance at NGC&S, because of the generosity the staff has offered me. It is a very comfortable staff and I'm glad this school has reminded me that there are still folks out there who want you to succeed and will be willing to help you at any point! I pray we all get into school and I think that from our "convos" on here you'd all make excellent nurses!
