  1. It has been 4 years since I took A&P - so not really too long, but would be desirable as a refresher course.
  2. It's been a while since I took it and I want to get a refresher (plus I LOVE anatomy). I've got a plan for after nursing school that may entail me needing the anatomies from North Georgia instead of where I took them from prior. I'm nervous about starting classes... it feels like forever since I've studied or anything!
  3. Okay! I was very confused. :) I do think I want to re-take anatomy if they'll let me... I also want to see if they will allow me to do an independent study. After I graduate I will be moving out of state and that particular state requires you to have a specific course that is not offered anywhere!
  4. How do you know all this!? I feel so lost - I thought I had to meet back at the campus on the 16th to register. Wow - I'm so confused!!
  5. I sent in all of my stuff - so, what's our next step? Just orientation on the 11th of August! So excited to meet my future classmates! Anyone at Dahlonega?
  6. I had called a while back for information on the "more to come packet". When I spoke with the office they said they are changing companies for some of the information (drug test companies, etc) and they are waiting for the contracts to finalize before they sent us the stuff. They said it could take a month or two for us to receive it all. Just wanted to give you all a heads up! :)
  7. I've never been wait-listed. I don't think they look at overall GPA either - I think it's just a few specific classes. I'm surprised you were wait-listed... what campuses did you put?
  8. Anyone going to be in Dahlonega? My "stats" were a 3.43 GPA and an 86 TEAS test. So, do any of you guys know what is next? We just send in our confirmation and... do they send us more info? Eeek! So excited! I, too, have been trying for two years... those that got a waiting list keep pushing and don't give up. It doesn't mean that you aren't supposed to do nursing, but that God's has another time for you to do it... I've been through that, too! Good luck!
  9. Me too! I'm going to be at the Dahlonega campus! Anyone else going to be there?? Yay and congrats to you all!
  10. Okay, I won't check my mailbox... except I'm waiting on a bill (fun, huh?). I suppose it could wait until Monday. If any of you all hear from the school today, tomorrow or even Monday, please let me know! I'll be there in a flash to check my mailbox out!
  11. So, nothing today. I'm going to be brave tomorrow and NOT go to the mailbox. I'm driving myself crazy! So... if any of y'all go to the mailbox tomorrow and have a letter - let me know! I'll check the mail again on Saturday. I'm so stinkin' nervous... I'm hoping for the best for all of us!!
  12. I had some pretty cruddy professors at UGA, too... I think that's everywhere. But, where I work a few women told me that it's fine and they'd have no problem hiring a nursing student from there (I work with RNs, LPNs, and CNPs). So, as far as my "heresay" goes - I've heard more positive than negative things. I didn't check my mailbox today - too lazy since it's at the front of the apartment complex, but will be checking it quite frequently now! Do you think they'd send them out today and just "trick" us that they will be sent out at the end of the week?!? That'd be cruel... well, we're getting close! Best of luck to you ALL!!!!
  13. She went there a while ago, but as far as her opinion on the school... I think it comes from a professional perspective, not a student perspective. When I was talking about the different schools I was going to apply to North Georgia never crossed my mind (I didn't know they had a nursing program). That is when she started talking about the value of the program and such. If you look up the NCLEX pass rate, it's just as high as the other schools in Georgia. I compared it to West Georgia because that was where EVERYONE was telling me to apply (I didn't because it's 2 hours from "home") and it was exactly the same (89%). To give you a general idea - MCG has a 90% pass rate, Kennesaw has a 91% and Mercer has an 88% pass rate. I hope this gives you some peace of mind. I just think the school isn't as widely known and remember "it takes ten positives to overcome one negative" so it's hard to build up a widely known, great reputation.
  14. I've been on edge for the last 3 months! This last two weeks is total torture... I've heard different things about the college, but from a North GA Alum, I was highly encouraged to apply. She is actively working as an RN and recommended North GA without any questions or doubt. I think it gets the "short end of the stick" because it is a smaller school and it's more recognized as a military school in the "boonies". My mom is an RN and seems to have no problems with the school either... I think the school and the education is what you make of it anyways. I have friends who went to schools that others may deem "inadequate" like ABAC and they are making more than my friends from bigger schools like UGA or GA TECH. So, I think it just all depends! I think we'll all be outstanding. Keep our chins up and I pray I get to meet you all as nursing students!!!
  15. ashleno - I was in the same boat. I applied twice and spoke to Fran personally on several occassions. However, my mom is an RN in the Kennesaw area and had several nursing students come into her office. They were unimpressed with the Kennesaw program and gave me peace of mind for not getting in. I feel blessed as of right now, even without knowing about acceptance at NGC&S, because of the generosity the staff has offered me. It is a very comfortable staff and I'm glad this school has reminded me that there are still folks out there who want you to succeed and will be willing to help you at any point! I pray we all get into school and I think that from our "convos" on here you'd all make excellent nurses!
  16. At least you got an interview with KSU! My college GPA was 3.34 or 3.43 (don't remember) and that was 3 years ago! I hope we all get in. I check my mailbox today - no college letter and no bills either! Good news! I even got my monthly Better Homes magazine! Two more weeks...
  17. Yea, I'm trying not to call the office. I figure I can harrass my mailbox like crazy, which by the way was empty and filling with cobwebs, and get encouragement from y'all on here! I know we're all gnawing away at our nails and chewing away at our pencil, we we all understand the craziness! I think my boyfriend thinks I've gone "mental" because this has consumed me... I'll keep checking my mailbox and keep you guys posted, but maybe I'll space out my trips to the mail a few days now since we've gotten "word" that we'll be waiting two more weeks!
  18. I haven't started a Nursing program yet, but hope to in the Fall. I already have a degree in Dietetics. You may feel like nothing is sinking in, but I wanted to offer you some hope and encouragement. When I was in school for my first undergraduate degree I felt completely lost, just like you but somehow, over time, everything starts to mesh together and in all actuality, you do retain it. Don't give up and keep on pushing! I know reading is important and I'm not sure of your class schedule, but I found it easier to read in between my classes. That way if I was confused with something, I could write down the page number and write down my question. Then, right before class I'd go to the professor and get clarification. This benefits you in several ways: 1) you show drive and determination - your prof will know you and will be more likely to go out of their way to help you; 2) it builds a great relationship for "networking" and 3) you get your answer! One more thing - a lot of things you'll learn better in the workforce. I've been out of college and working for 3 years and I do believe I've experience more "knowledge growing" out here working than in the classroom. The classroom provides you the "text knowledge" and you will store it for later use, I promise, but the workplace or a clinical rotation, is where you're going to be able to apply that information and see it's relevancy! I promise! So, keep on truckin' and you'll definitely succeed. Take a step back, breathe, have a nice latte, and think of how far you've come! It's hard to get into school and you did it - the school wouldn't have taken you if they didn't think you couldn't do it! I'll be prayin' for you and GOOD LUCK! :)
  19. Well, according to my empty mailbox I am going to assume we won't be receiving any Valentine's "lovin'" from NGCSU. So... Happy Valentine's to you all! I'll be keeping my fingers, and toes, crossed for us all at my every trip to the mailbox from here until "Judgement day".
  20. Ahh... now I'm even more nervous! My GPA is similar but my science classes weren't all A's and my TEAS score was a little lower. My original major is in Nutrition and have been working in public health for 3 years in my field, but I don't remember having to put that information in my application. I wish March would come sooner than later...
  21. Are you aiming for the Dahlonega campus? My parents are offering to let me live with them throughout school - I'm unmarried and no kids (I'm only 24). It'll be a humbling experience but a total blessing. Great thing is they live about 27 miles from campus. I put Gainesville as my second option - more like 50 miles, but still school none the less. I have applied to several schools and keep getting the "reapply" comment because some of my classes are having a hard time transferring. No idea why sinch I went to a major 4 year college the first go 'round - so I'm nervous that the same thing is going to occur again!
  22. FalconWidow - I don't think you will have ANY problems getting in. Your stats look awesome. I'm absolutely nervous sick. I've been through this drill before and just starting to give up Not good! I also heard first week in March though, but fingers crossed for Valentine's Day, too. Maybe they want to send us some lovin' :loveya:?
  23. I think I graduated college with a 3.43 GPA. My TEAS was an 86 or 87. Science classes for me - B in CHEM 1 w/A lab, C in ChEM 2 w/B lab, Anatomys were both Bs with A labs. I don't have to turn in my SAT due to having a degree. I'm nervous like crazy! When I got in touch with the school I was informed we'd find out around March because they start going through applications in February. I'll be prayin for ya because I'm definitely sitting in that same situation and it's driving me bonkers!
  24. Thank you so much for that encouragement. I'm trying to stay up in that area because my family is local and they have offered me free rent. I have applied to several schools and have had nothing but bad luck when it comes to them accepting courses (I'm always "missing" classes that I've already taken). So far everything with North GA has panned out wonderfully. I'm 100% impressed with the staff and organization of the college and the cute little "Happy Holidays" card I received around Christmas. I'm going to be absolutely devestated if I don't get granted Nursing acceptance!
  25. I definitely tried to argue and even had a meeting with Nursing Admissions up in Rome. They wouldn't transfer my Anatomy courses (which UGA accepted) and when I informed them of the missing nutrition and that being my major they pretty much just said, "Oh..." I have tried Kennesaw in the past, but they are very hard to get into. I'm going to try West Georgia, Emory, and probably GA State or GA Southern. I'm also trying North Georgia - which would get me the ASN and eventually the BSN - I'm super impressed with their admissions staff and the nursing staff (they sent a e-card for the Holidays :) )
