Georgia Highlands College Spring 2011

Published

Hello! I am an applicant for the nursing program at Georgia Highlands College for Spring 2011. I was just wondering if there was anyone else on here that is hoping to be accepted to the college as well. Does anyone know the typical schedule, cost, etc.? What were the average scores on the nursing worksheets that were accepted last spring and for this coming Fall 2010 semester?

I also inquired about acceptance because I have to give my apartment a 60-day notice. They told me the letters would go out Monday or Tuesday. I asked them if I could call on those dates to find out and they said they would not be able to tell anyone by phone and that I'd have to wait on the letter, basically leaving me to put in a notice to my apartment in high hopes of receiving acceptance. So, yes, they are very adamant about us waiting on our letters... but, good luck to you all. Only a few more days!!!

to everyone i find my phone call odd too. i am going to assume that some kind of mistake was made since the lettes haven't been sent out yet. I'm still happy about the call but i am not going to celebrate until i get my letter. I was very excited when i got the call and therefore posted on here probably prematurely. I don't remember what my score was and i'm going to join you all again in the "waiting game" until i see the letter in my hands!

I have no hard feelings with anyone i know that this is a very anxious process of waiting. it's nearly driven me crazy!

:) I wish we could all get in! :(

we'll see for real in a few days!

I did get a phone call from GHC, but it was from general admissions, not nursing admissions. You never know, all I know is that all of us really want in the program and we are getting very close to finding out if we have been selected. I can't wait for the day I check my phone at work and see that someone has been selected! Good luck to all of us!!!

Would anyone else be willing to post their GHC Nursing Admissions Score?

I am willing to post mine. When I turned in my application for spring I had a score of 1000. Shortly afterward, I found out that 22+ yrs. ago (((((right after high school when I was an immature student not focused on school and pregnant with my child))))))--- I took an English and a Math class -- and these were going to count against me as attempts and it brought my score down to a 940...... I have worked very hard since entering GHC as a student in August of 2009 with the goal of getting into the Nursing Program in Spring of 2011..... I am so sick about this I can hardly stand it and I am very nervous about the wait......

@ Bailey8 That would make sense, but i'm already a student there. So i have no idea why i received that call.

i don't mind posting mine - it's not that much better than yours - it's a 944.

i think our scores (at least when i spoke with hope in aug.) are borderline for getting in. it just all depends on who else applies. i think they should go by something other than just scores. like you, i have 2 small kids at home - my baby (6 months old at the time) had to have 2 surgeries during the period i took ap1. so my grade isn't as great as it could have been.

i don't think i got in - just because i went through this in fall 2010 when i applied the first time. the score for the past 3 years at that point was a 802-804. so my score then was 897 - i was golden in my eyes. i wasn't that worried about getting rejected. imagine my surprise when i got rejected.

with that being said... i hope we both get in :) it seems like last year - more people knew (or at least were posting) about exactly when the letters would go out. this year it's just kind of this week sometime.

@ Weshallsee....

Yeah a 940 and 944 are not bad scores at all........ Last spring the lowest score was 844 and this Fall it was 926. But, I am so afraid that the lowest scores may be higher than 940's this time..... I hope we both get in and I feel that there should be other things considered also.....With my 1000 score.... I shouldn't have had to worry much... but, I feel like I have been cheated because I worked hard for that 1000.... oh well..... Good luck to you and hopefully we'll know tomorrow or Thurs.. Hope said that letters would be mailed Wed. unless they were able to get them out today........ :coollook:

@ Tfhorne....

I feel that you must have received a prank call. Hope said the school does not notify by phone or even release any information about who got in, etc. via phone..... There would be serious consequences because that is strictly against policy.... and no one else at the school knows except the board and the one doing the letters (which I think is Barbara Cozby)... and none of those would have called you....

It must just be a friend or someone who is not a friend messing with you....

I don't mean to continue on with this... but it really concerns me when someone announces something that is so far left field.....(because never in any semester has this happened to anyone else)... and the school takes this seriously....

I do wish you luck though and hope that you receive good news this week just like all of us that are waiting...... :nurse:

If I did my worksheet score right (which I'm doubtful of) my score is 1040 or 1140 (can't remember). I'm more nervous about the humanities course. I have several humanities courses throughout my college career, however, none are the three "suggested" by the school. But, we'll all find out soon enough - good luck and prayers to you all. Some of us will probably get letters today because I believe the were sent out yesterday!

Best wishes!!

I just spoke with admissions and they are sending them out today or in the morning. She said any day now we can expect them. Good luck everyone!

Just spoke to admissions - they are sending them in the morning. Eek... don't they know this is torture? I think they enjoy it :)

Ugh! I'm just so ready to know. I feel like the next few years of my life are just hanging in the balance!!! I felt confident but now worry bc I'm currently taking micro and not sure how much not having that completed will effect me.
