Georgia Highlands College Fall 2011

Hello everyone. I just applied for admissions for the fall 2011 program a couple weeks ago.

Has anyone esle applied as well? If so what is your GPA and ACT score if you don't mind me asking.

My gpa is a 3.0, or higher because I have grades that have not posted, and I took the ACT over 13 years ago with a score of 18.

@devoted, I called Barbara and she said BLS is CPR and the American Heart Association will do fine, cannot be Red cross. Not sure if they are the same but they want CPR cert.

@angrae, I will definitely not be purchasing books until July 20th, but as far as the scrubs go, do you know what kind of issues could we run into if they have already given us the specifications on how they need to be (and even the place where to get them)?Also, Fawn911 previously mentioned Lynn's store sews the GHC patches for no additional cost but that they can too get busy, so don't you think it would be better to get them ahead of time? Just a thought I had, please do correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

I went to scrub shop yesterday and tried on and took measurements, they had to order them. I told them I would pick up on July 20th and I pay when I pick up, hope there are no changes.

Ok.... so everyone will probably laugh at this but in the spring class, at orientation which is the day before classes start....... the professor asked who had gotten their scrubs already and only 1 out of the 40 students had done so and that person raised their hand.... and the instructor kind of gave that person a hard time..... The issue that she addressed was the fact that clinicals didn't start for 8 weeks and she stated that almost everyone has a fluctuation in weight during the first 8 weeks of nursing school...... they either lose weight (more rare) or gain weight (most often).... Most people probably think this won't affect them but this is something we have never experienced before and right now clinicals are approx. 15 weeks away..... I don't think we have to worry about not being able to get patches sewn on over 15 weeks.... Personally, I plan to wait until around the time school starts and I still have 8 weeks for patches or alterations or waiting on orders to come in, etc.......

This is just my opinion and I was just sharing to help out if possible......

Okay, CVS makes passport photos and there is currently a coupon online for $2 off. I'm running into all this paper wOrk stuff late since I just cOme back from vacation. I did order my scrubs though, I've worn the same size in scrubs for 5 years now. I mean I don't plan on starving myself and indulging from stress, because we all have each other as a support group. I've had so much trouble with my previous employer retrieving my immunization records. I'm ready for the 20th! Can we call anytime to make the registration appointment?

Do we get blood test and urine sample with our physical exam? Also, do we turn in our bls card, prove of insurance, immunizations record, and etc on July 20th?

You need to send your acceptance letter and picture quick, according to letter they need to receive it by June 30th.

@MadsMom09... oh how I love a good coupon! Thanks for the tip :) You can call anytime during business hours to make an appointment; the offices close at noon on Friday but I think they are open until 5:30 the rest of the week.

@whatsnxt11, that sounds great. I actually have both cards so I am not sure what that means. I have a BLS and a CPR card. I do think they go together. Mine is from the right place. I also asked to be in the facebook group. I am so excited and nervious at the same time.
