Georgetown U. Accelerated BSN - Spring 2010

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just submitted my application for Georgetown's Accelerated BSN starting Spring 2010 and I just wanted to open a post for anyone else that has applied as well.

My best guess is by the end of October. The application is due tomorrow, and I think we have to make our decisions about going by November 13, so it would almost HAVE to be out by then. Anyone agree?

Yeah that sounds about right. From old postings on tha Fall 09 threads, seemed like they waited a good couple of weeks to hear about the scholarship after they were notified of acceptance. Im guessing 2-3 weeks from tomorrow.

Hunderdahl-

I recognize your name from my interview.. your interview was right before mine. Congrats on getting in! Is GU your first choice?

Hi! Yeah, it's my first choice... but if I don't get accepted into the scholarship program, that changes things. I hate to say that $$ is such an issue, but it might be my deciding factor :/

P.S. I'm moving from Maine to DC and do not have a place to live yet. If anyone is in the same boat, we should coordinate and talk about maybe apartment hunting together...

Yea I am moving from California to DC, so I will need to find an apt and all that jazz...I would be interested in apartment hunting for sure!

I'll be moving from CA too! I totally need to apartment hunt. I stayed at the Holiday Inn which is across the bridge/river from Georgetown, wasnt too bad--good hike. I'd consider Arlington if its cheaper. On a budget. Just totally unfamiliar with the area. Probably not going to bring a car, Metro didnt seem too bad--kinda expensive though.

Btw, the WHC scholarship deadline has been moved to 10/9. I plan on submitting mine tomorrow.

I dont know if I'll be attending, but so far I'm leaning towards yes. Shrug. Any advice?? So hard to make this decision.

Just Jane-

Have you been accepted to any other schools?

Im totally going. GU is my first choice and could not be more excited. What is holding you back? Apply for the scholarship.. see how it goes!

What part of cali are you from? I too will not be bringing a car.. so i will be relying on the metro. I think Arlington is a good bet if it is just across the bridge!

I personally cannot wait!!

i am definitely bringing a car because i haaaavvveeee to escape the city for the wilderness and adventures at least twice a month! im a big outdoors-y type and am actually nervous to move into a city.

I love to be outdoors too---the Potomac River is very beautiful and right out the door from GU.

WLJ--

I think the $70k tuition is a lot for this program. There are other great programs out there that cost way less. And D.C. has a very high cost of living too...esp the high rent.

I havent gotten in anywhere else yet, but I'm still waiting. I would really love to go to Duke. Though I think I would really grow into D.C., and I would probably enjoy GU too.

The programs not bad, its just pricey--like the area/city its in.

I'm applying to the scholarship either way, but committing 4 years is a llooooonngg time. A bit suffocating to think of.

I'm in the Bay Area, close to S.F. Maybe we could all house hunt together!

Has anyone gotten any additional emails yet? My email said to expect more details shortly but I haven't heard anything yet.

I haven't either, I figure we may hear more by tomorrow. - By the way, congrats JLSELD and JustJane!!! I was sitting with you both when we first arrived at the interview. Fingers crossed for a happy ending when we hear about the scholarships! Has anyone submitted theirs yet? I'm a madwoman and haven't submitted mine yet for all the editing I'm doing. We hear fairly soon afterwards I think? One of the 'WHC ladies' suggested she thought they had to turn in their decisions to Georgetown by the following Monday! Anyone else hear something definitive?
