Hi everyone,
I'm currently finishing up my prerequisites and just started my NursingCAS Application for George Washington ABSN for Spring 2015. I found out today (4/17/2015) GW temporarily made their Spring 2016 application unavailable due to errors. They will be releasing it again starting 4/24/15. Until then, I'll be completing the generic information on NursingCAS (personal info, transcript entry, etc)
I just wanted to start a thread to see who else is applying to GW ABSN Spring 2016 and get through this journey together!

@TDJones- I feel you pain and agony, especially with what you have gone through with NursingCAS. After verification of my transcripts, I believed I waited almost 3 weeks to get my 1st email from GWU admission stating that the preliminary review of my application has completed and it has been forwarded to the admission committees for final review. Then one week later I got my acceptance email. I know it sucks to wait this long for you, but hanging there. I went to the open house and met the staffs yesterday, they are awesome and very good at what they do. You are in good hand. Best of luck.
@Ksiverts Congratulation on your acceptance. It's awesome that you are from Boston, always wanted to go there. Anyway, if you decide for sure that you are accepting the offer, please let me know. I will give you my contact info so we can figure out the living situation. If anyone else wants to share an apartment please let us know. Cya
@Ksiverts I am not from the area as well so it was my first time visiting. I like the campus, it was more quite than I thought. Though not in the center of everything, I don't think you have to drive an hour to the closest grocery stores. It is close to a lot of shopping places and restaurants according to google map. Inside the Innovation hall, which we will spend the most of our time in it, is very quite as well. I got to tour the lab and classrooms, which they looked awesome and state-of-the-art equipment, so I am excited about that.
When I talked to the staffs about living situation, they recommended me to live in between Washington DC and Ashburn if possible. The reason is that whether or not you are in the Washington Square program (in this program you will be doing majority of your clinical at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in DC), many of our clinical locations will be around DC area, so we might have to travel into DC often regardless. You can take metro to DC but I think a car is more ideal because the metro system is not 24/7.
I have been doing some apartment search around Ashburn area and have gotten a quote for a 2bed/2bath apartment about 10 minutes away from the campus in Ashburn. I just need to find a roommate, or more than one, to cut down the expense. The apartment rent around the area all around $1500~2000 for a 2bed/2bath, so I just go with the one that has better reviews. I know it's nervous for you, especially you are from that far away, but at least you have couple months to get prepare. Cya
Yeah I was hoping to find a place between DC/Ashburn too because I'm nervous about the campus being so rural...I went to undergrad in Boston so I'm used to being in a city all the time so this will definitely be a change of pace! Were there other students on campus? I'm curious if students hang out on campus or just go to their classes and head home. I didn't apply for Washington Squared because I'm interested in Pediatrics and want to get a job at a Pediatric Hospital after graduation, so it didn't make sense for me to apply, but I definitely still want to be close to DC for clinicals/activities away from school. I read on some of the other forums that people live in Reston because it is where the subway stop is and is also close to campus (15 min away by car), did anyone at the program mention that town?

Hi everyone!
I was also just accepted to the Spring 2016 cohort for the GW ABSN. I'm almost positive I will enroll but am waiting to hear back from a few Masters programs as well. I'm from Boston and also looking for roommates to live with :) The Loudoun Apartments or Stoneridge Apartments both look nice....after living in crappy, expensive apartments in Boston for 4 years the 2-3 beds seem very reasonable! Also, I'm currently living with two guys I met on Craigslist...so I'm really open to living with anyone =P. Has anyone heard reviews of the program? I tried to find some online but couldn't find much.
