George Washington Hospital New Grads...?

Published

GWU has no info on their new grad program on their page (I'm not even sure if they have one). I tried contacting the nurse recruitment, but haven't heard anything back. Does anyone have any info on them, or an alternate contact? Thanks.

Thanks kingkn! Was it a fairly quick process? I submitted my application last Monday and will be in DC at the end of the month for an interview at Washington Hospital and am hoping to be able to interview at GW during the same trip!

yeah, I was rejected immediately. it is NOT because of (not having taken) the NCLEX yet. It's because you must have a minimum number of nurse tech/pct hours.

Good luck!

I havent heard back from them after sending my information and at the same time I havent received any rejection notification either. Online it still says "prospect" next to my application status... So I dont know... but Im surely not going to wait for them to call either! (already have a job offer elsewhere! just looking for backup plans... just in case)

kingkn - where will you'll be working?

don't bother applying to the ER. It's already filled.

Does anyone know what the new grad pay is at GW. I have a telephone interview this thursday morning and am very anxious. I've never done a phone interview and dont know what to expect.

I applied for the internship and was immediately rejected because I have a 2yr degree. I applied to individual positions that doesnt require experience and got a response for an interview w/in a week. But I also have a yr experience as a LPN. Not sure if that makes a difference because some hospitals dont give credit for having less than 2yrs experience. So, I dont know. I know its a pain though. I have submitted over 30 applications since ive passed boards in the past 2 weeks. And its scary that most hospitals arent hiring new grads like they did a year ago. Anyone knows of other hospitals hiring in the DC/Northern Virginia or Maryland area.

Thanks,

Shawn

Does anyone know the amount of pct/tech/externship hours needed to qualify for GW Hospital new grad programs?? I saw in other posts that people were getting rejected for not having enough.

I have applied for the Medical/Surgical Internship at George Washington University Hospital. Has anyone had an on-site interview and is will to give some tips. I did the phone interview and was asked to come in for an on-site interview. I am very nervous. The new grad pay is $25/hr. The next internship starts August 17th.

Thanks in advance for any info that can be provided.

After the phone interview, I went in for the face-to-face with the unit manager. I was very nervous as well, but all he did was tell me about the unit and give me a quick tour and then offered me the job. I don't think he asked me anything!

So if your on site interview was like mine, you already have the position. BUT, this was for the cardiovascular care unit, not a med surge unit, so hopefully you have the same experience!

Good Luck!

Thank you for the response. I guess I will see. My only problem is the 2yr contract I must sign as a new grad. I am very unsettled by this. I dont like working somewhere and having the feeling that I am stuck. And if there is not sign on or relocation bonus, I am 2nd guessing before even getting the job. I also have an interview at NRH, and am think of taking that, working for a while, I might try it again.

Have you started working already? I the 2yr contract worth it? I apologize. I am moving from SC for a job and would hate to move there and hate it and be stuck for 2yrs.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Shawn

Does anyone know if they offer relocation expenses?

Also, did you submit your letters and transcript on your own or did they contact you and ask you to send them?
