  1. I just received my confirmation letter today!!! Just some info for everyone still waiting: My debt to income ratio was 138% and I work at a Pediatric DSH facility. I received the email with the contract, etc July 11th and received my confirmation in the mail today. Good luck to all of those still waiting!
  2. RE: jocey2: When did you get your email with the contract/all of the info to fax back? I got the email July 12 and faxed everything back that day and have been waiting ever since! Just curious to see about how long it takes from the time people get the emails until they get the contract in the mail. The wait is killing me! Thanks for any info!
  3. I know Children's will be hiring a lot of new grads this January-at least 25 for the ICU's alone. We just received a significant amount of money and will be expanding our new ICU unit by renovating an old one and increasing by about 13-22 beds...we are hiring new grads ahead of time so that they will be off orientation (6 months long) and experienced by the time the newly renovated unit is open. We will also be hiring about 25 new grads next June as well.
  4. It's business casual for the week of orientation. From what I know (and have seen-I had 2 clinicals there) you can wear any color/print scrub you want. Even fitted tshirts or long sleeve t's. Bring a jacket as well because the units can be very cold or warm/just right. Hope this helps! What unit are you on? I start on Sept 8 in the PICU.
  5. After the phone interview, I went in for the face-to-face with the unit manager. I was very nervous as well, but all he did was tell me about the unit and give me a quick tour and then offered me the job. I don't think he asked me anything! So if your on site interview was like mine, you already have the position. BUT, this was for the cardiovascular care unit, not a med surge unit, so hopefully you have the same experience! Good Luck!
  6. What position did you apply for? I initially applied for the ICU but during my phone interview was told that I needed a lot of experience to be considered for that (either working as a tech or prior ICU nursing experience since I am a new grad-they like new grads to have a year or two of med/surg before transitioning to the ICU) so I was considered for the Cardiovascular Center Unit instead. I haven't taken the NCLEX yet but I was offered a job by the director of nursing for that unit on the day I went in for the interview. I don't think it matters that you haven't taken the NCLEX yet.
  7. After you submitted your application did it ask you questions about what degree you will graduate with, how many critical care clinical hours you have, etc? I received that message after I submitted my application the first time because it asked if I would have a BSN when I graduated and I put "no" because I will actually have an MS....so I had to go back through and apply again for another position and say that I would have a BSN because the lowest degree that GWUH will hire, and putting MS is not an option in the drop down box. I would contact their nurse recruiter directly if you have further problems. She is pretty good about getting back to people-at least that has been my experience.
  8. Does anyone know what the pay is like for new grad's at GW? Just curious because I am new to the area...
  9. Thanks for the info on the change....do you know when in August? Just wondering.
  10. HI! I am attending the Open House on Feb 3. Has anyone been to one before? What should I expect? The only thing they told me was to apply for the position before I come so that they have my information on hand. I am interested in the PICU because I had my Peds clinical there on the Heart and Kidney unit and got to spend a day in the PICU and loved it! I hope Tuesday goes well! Thanks for any advice!
