What's everyone doing with their winter break?

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I've got 6 weeks off from next Tuesday until the end of January. I'm taking a winter mini-mester class to finish out my General Education requirements for this BSN and working on campus. I'm just curious to see what everyone else is going to be doing. CNA work? Pre-reading textbooks? What would you recommend to do so I don't forget everything I've learned so far this semester (1st semester of junior year)? Should I go back and type up all my notes so I can have space for more paper in my apartment? Perhaps this has been already asked and if so, please forgive my curiousity.

Let me just say, I hope everyone's going to be enjoying their time off so we can all charge through next semester. Med-Surg and OB for me and 16 hours/week of clinical time.

I will be giving my family a spectacular Chirstmas, studying for next semester (the advanced reading list is out), and working FT as a Nurse Extern (WOOHOO!!!)! In between all of that I will get some sleep and finish cleaning up the house.

I will be staying at home and trying to prepare for next semester by looking up time management strategies for nurses!!

Can somebody say ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz?????!!!!!!

Specializes in Med-Tele, Internal Med PCU.

We took the HESI on Monday, so I am diligently procrastinating looking at the results.

catch on cleaning, sleeping, and drinking

hopefully visit some long lost friends

start my new job as a nurse tech!

start prepping for ob/peds

and eat..... alot!!!

I plan on getting my book report done, it's not actually due till about a week after classes start but we also have a 10-12 page research paper due mid way thru the semester, ours is split into two flex courses, mental health & OB II, I'm in the mental health first group which is great cuz the last half of the semester will be more relaxed :) also spending time with my 3 kiddos and bil's 3 kiddos, a whooooole lot of family bondage err I mean bonding going on over the next few weeks lmao

we were given 15 chapters to read for our first lecture in 3 weeks, and have an assignment due as well

I have three weeks off so I am going to first of all relax. And then try to get ahead for next term by reading up on some of the stuff that I am going to be doing in clinical next term. Also, maybe do some IV questions that we never did this term, but probably is helpful to know for clinical, so maybe I will finally attempt them. Oh ya, I am also going to catch up on a lot of lost sleep. I hope that everyone enjoys their time off!!

Specializes in Med/Surg, Tele, IM, OB/GYN, neuro, GI.

I have a careplan, a paper, two study guides and all the chapters that go with them, study for a final that we have two days after breaks over and another test the day after that. Plus I haven't done any Christmas shopping and I need to clean my house from top to bottom. It hasn't been done since summer break and it's been driving me crazy.

Specializes in None.

In reading responses, it's amazing that some people have up to 6 weeks of break time. I have a very short winter break. It starts Tuesday (December 18), I have orientation tomorrow and an algebra final. I have the next two weeks off and then on January 2nd, I start NS, with Nutrition, English, Nursing 101, Biochemistry, and maybe Philosophy. And then until it's over, I have no more than two weeks in a break...3 semesters a year for the next 2 1/2 years!!!:uhoh21:

But I'm so excited and cannot wait for it to start!!!!!!!!!!:lol2:

I'm going to relax and spend time with my kids. This is the first X-mas that I haven't had to work in years!

Me too!!!

It's going to be so great to not have to watch my kids open presents while I'm getting ready for work. I can actually put the toys together this year....never thought I'd be happy about that:chuckle

I only have 2 weeks and 2 days off starting this thursday. Plan to give my brain a rest one week. Then second week. just get a head start on the readings for next semester
