What is Considered Passing at Your School??

Nursing Students General Students

I'm in my 3rd quarter of my ADN RN program and am just curious as to what marks other students here have to have to pass.

I have to get a 78% or above on my all exams to be considered passing....we lost about 5 people over the last 2 quarters too. Yikes! :uhoh21:

Specializes in ED.

75% for all exams

90% for math exams

pass or fail for clinicals

You must maintain an average of 2.6 gpa and pass all clinicals.

Specializes in ER, Medicine.

75 is where passing starts.

Specializes in MICU, SICU, PACU, Travel nursing.

we had to have 80%.

For us C or above is considered passing!

My school doesn't use the +/- on grades, so this is where it gets tricky. Some teachers are strict: if you're at a 70, this would be a C- and therefore not passing - you have to get a 75 or above.

Depends on the teacher and the class, I think... The actual nursing courses 75 may be passing, but the peripheral courses like psych and sociology, etc may allow you to slide by with a 70... i really haven't figured a pattern out to it.

I saw someone post here a while back "C MEANS CONTINUE!" and that has been my motto ever since! :chuckle

Specializes in Emergency Dept, M/S.

80% average for any nursing courses, or required courses for the nursing program (such as A&P, Micro, Patho, etc.). Any other courses, (English, Bioethics, electives) we just have to pass.

70% in theory

Clinicals are graded from 0-4, with 4 being an A, and must have a C to pass (3.6 -4 is an A)

Specializes in LDRP.

75% in theory

S in clinical

90% on drug calculation test

attendance at all Lab classes

Completion of all LSRN's

For me its 40% pass on written assignments and exams

competencies (clinical skills within practice) 100% pass (unless you are unable to do the skill in your area eg. stoma care- if nobody is on your ward with a stoma then you don't have the opportunity to pass it, which is different to not being competent at the skill)

40% sounds low compared to the rest of you. ours must be marked differently, harsher i guess. we have had about 20 drop out over the first 3 semesters

80%=C=PASS: theory which comprises 6 tests, 1 final, symbols and abbreviations.

Clinical is pass or fail.

We have to pass both portions to pass the semester.

Our dosage calc requires 100% to pass you get 2 chances.

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

80% average.

And must have at least 80% in each component, clinical and course work.

May only fail one course and retake it only once.

95% on any math/pharm tests.

Specializes in jack of all trades, master of none.

80% clinical & theory

Pass/Fail on skills testing

Don't remember if there was different criteria for the math stuff
