Well, actually i'm not into nursing school yet 'coz i was born in '88. I'm a straight male.
Well, before i decide which course/major i would take, i need some help/opinion.
Nursing is one of the option in for my future.
Well, let me ask you straightly,
"WHAT DO YOU GIRLS THINK ABOUT MALE NURSES ???"

Depends on the man. If you're a decent person, and a good nurse, and a teamworker, then I'm all for you.

I think having guys in the profession is great. The only area I think it becomes problematic is OB for some reason--mostly because of the patients response (although many patients have no probs with a male OBGYN "birthing" their baby so I dont get it). PERSONALLY, I think women should be part of that whole deal (I am a big proponent of midwifery so I have my views--but I think EVERY man needs to see the process of childbirth at least once to see how amazing it is).
That said, why not do it?? You will be in the minority, yes. I have some great guys in my class--we only have a handful (and a couple that arent doing so hot but its 'cuz they dont study). Are you empathetic, caring, compassionate, intelligent, and a critical thinker who is willing to work very, very hard? Yes? Then you got what it takes! GL! :) :) :)

Male nurses are generally just fine.
I really meant to say that having you BOYS as coworkers is generally just fine.

I have never had the opportunity to work with a male nurse, but as a patient some of the best nurses I have had were male!! (no disrespect to the female nurses), this is just my own personal experience!!
Good Luck with whichever route you choose. Nursing is a wonderful career and we always need more good, caring and compassionate nurses!!

I've worked with a bunch of guys and trained one. As long as you're a good nurse...that is all I care about. I told my DH he should go to nursing school. He would be a great nurse.

This "girl" thinks she wants a competent, caring and compassionate nurse with integrity working at her side and with any loved ones in the hospital/clinic. And NOT just for brawn, either.....but for brains!
Oh, and gender or sexual orientation?
Did not mention those, did I? Mainly because they do not matter to me. :-)

Speaking as a woman, i don't feel any different about male nurses than female nurses.

I don't understand why you bring your sexual orientation into the equation at all. The only concern I would have is that if you honestly believe it might matter, that you adjust your perception. Gay or straight, male or female, have nothing to do with suitability for this profession.
