Well, actually i'm not into nursing school yet 'coz i was born in '88. I'm a straight male.
Well, before i decide which course/major i would take, i need some help/opinion.
Nursing is one of the option in for my future.
Well, let me ask you straightly,
"WHAT DO YOU GIRLS THINK ABOUT MALE NURSES ???"
Not sure why this topic's suddenly come up again, but...
Yes, it's true that nursing made a great surge forward in respect, scope of practice, etc along the time that men started becoming nurses. It was also the same time feminism became accepted by the general public in some form and a time when it became more acceptable to work outside the home. Men entering nursing was a part of the changes you speak of, not the reason for them.
I'm married to a RN (he's been one for 14 years). IMHO, (I have worked under him as his CNA at work, and believe me he was NOT easy on me) he is by far one of the best nurses around. I can only hope that when I graduate in May '08 I can be half the nurse he is. He is such a good role model that my son (who is 9) is now saying he wants to be a nurse.

some of the best boy nurses I have seen worked in a Cardiac Critical Care unit and took care of my dad
we had 13 boys in our class, there are 6 left, and ALL of them are going to make amazing nurses. We have one who has never missed on any of his IV starts, one who is excellent in Pediatrics, one who will be amazing in ER.
I think they rock

It is my opinion that it is the men in this profession that has broadened it. Nurses have taken on more responsibility, better wages and have more respect since the men have entered the field. Call me crazy, but it is true! I know alot of people may not agree with it, but this seems to be the way things are in any field.
Bring the boys on!!!!!!!!!!! :)
