Shoe shopping

Another topic probably already covered, but figure it wouldn't hurt to discuss again for all of that'll be beginning school this summer and fall.

Any nursing shoe suggestions? Of course, the school requires all-white leather nursing or tennis shoes, and I don't know where to begin to look - there's so many different brands and styles!

Thanks! :)

I swear by NurseMates. They're the closest thing to barefoot.

Myself I prefer Sketchers.

Actually, I was looking into this. And I found

I was specifically looking for european made shoes. Many US shoes are of a lower quality that the europeans (when it comes to walking shoes). That is, of course, my opinion.

The Europeans walk everywhere. Old people, children, everyone...they dont take a car even to the grocery store. So I figure I will look to see what I can find european quality.

Hey,

I can't help in in fact I'm wondering about shoes too. I start at Charity School of Nursing in Louisiana in the Fall and noticed you are in Mississippi. Where are you going? Good Luck:)

I usually head to Mervyn's or Big 5 and find a comfortable "tennis" shoe on sale. Hopefully under 20 bucks.

Hi All!

I know that they are rather expensive but I purchased a pair of Dansko's and they are worth every penny! I have no regrets and the place I purchased them at told me that their #1 cusomers are nurses. So I guess that says it all.

However a nurse friend of mine told me to go to:

The shoes sort of look like dansko's without the high price tag.

Happy shopping! :)

I got a pair of New Balance walking shoes that were totally white. I had read a lot of great things about New Balance, but man my feet were killing my at the end of my 4hr clinicals, and since I was in a small hospital w/ a slow rad dept, it wasn't like I was running around everywhere. One of my fellow students got a pair of Nike's that were white except for a gray swoosh towards the toe and she said they were way more comfortable than New Balance.

One fellow nurse/friend swears by new balance shoes.

I guess it depends on the person, but my NB's are buried at the bottom of my closet! :)

Oh yes, I forgot to share that I purchased a pair of Anywheres from my local nurse uniform store and I have been very dissatisfied with them, The salesmanwas in the shop as I was trying on uniforms , he approached me and what he had to say sounded very good so I bought the shoes.A white pair.Well within one month, they had yellowed. No, I did not use bleach or other cleaning products on them as per his suggestion. Well, I waited on it for a few months and then contacted ANYWHERE for help. They never responded. So now we are a few months later and I go to another local uniform shop, happen to mention my dilemma and the manager tells me that ANYWHERE had a recall on these shoes because they "yellowed". I went ahead and recontacted ANYWHERE via email, a multiple phone calls to no avail. I even contacted the Nurse Uniform shop where I purchased them and they told me they would F/U and nothing.

Well, eventually I just released it as another learning experience! hahaha

However I would like to put the word out and you can go their site online to see which shoes I am talking about:

BTW... they were not very comfortable, truth be told. I developed a corn on my baby toe as a result of wearing these shoes.Mostly I was very upset with their poor customer service behavior.

Good Luck!
