  1. I am a 3rd semester student at Charity let me know if you have any questions. Email is better than the message board [email protected] Alitia
  2. No she did not describe the purulent drainage as "pussy" in her nursing notes.... :chuckle
  3. Alissa, Sorry, but the nails will have to go:( We can't have fake nails and nails must be kept even with the finger tips. Congrats on getting in Basic is not as bad as everyone claims...at least I didn't think so. Alitia
  4. Hello, The day program can do clinicals in Covington, but it really isn't as good as it seems if you don't live in Covington. On Monday we have class in New Orleans then we must go to our clinical hospital to meet our patients. Then on Tues and Wed we have clinicals. The problem is on Monday morning class is in New Orleans and then people with clinicals at Lakeview have to drive all the way to Covington to pick of their clinical assignments. Hope this helps. Alitia
  5. Hello, We live on the coast and had to evacuate due to Ivan. I took 4 horses, 3 dogs, and my cat with me. No way I am leaving them if I don't feel it's safe enough for me to stay. They do not allow animals in the shelters here, but they do tell everyone not to leave them behind. I am not sure what they expect people to do with their animals..... We usually stay in a living quarter horse trailer and have to find a place to board the horses which isn't too hard. Alitia
  6. Hey, We are in the same class I have Pharm on Thurs too. I have been studying, but probably not enough. It really is a lot of info I guess we just have to take it one step at a time. Are you working? My name is Alitia I have blonde hair and sit in the front by the TV in Phram and in the back in Basic. I'm sure we have seen each other:) I go to Baptist with Mrs. Regerrio(sp) for clinicals. Good Luck to you and me both and that test....lol Alitia
  7. Hey, How are you doing? Are you in evening or day? We emailed back and forth a few months ago and I was just wondering how you are doing. I'm in the evening division. Alitia
  8. Alissa, Lab practice can be done anytime in the evening if you are in night classes or in the day if you are in day classes. This semester evening classes can pick from University, Charity, or VA for clinicals. I think the day classes have the same options along with a hospital in Covington..there may be others, but I don't think so. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions. Alitia
  9. Jemommy, I have heard it is very hard I just hope I have what it takes to get though. I would like to eventually get my BSN and go to CRNA school. I have been reading through my books (all but the dosage book), but I really should buckle down more than I have been. I have a bunch of the Made Easy books so I am going to read those also. I have been told by quite a few people that 1/2 of the students drop out or fail the first semester....ahhhhh. Maybe we can study together...can you friend save the test:)~ Did you get any of the books that we on the recommened list? I only have the 4 required books so far. What scholarships did you appy for on Fastweb? There were so many, but most were for very small amounts of money and you had to write a paper..I guess I'm just too lazy. Lots of hospitals pay off student loans so at any rate I hope I can find one to do that for me. Do you have a little girl or boy....how old? Hope to hear back from you soon. Alitia
  10. Jemommy, My mother-in-law bought me a stethoscope from the local unifirm shop, but it's not a very good one I so I was thinking of either returning it or keeping it as a spare. I would really like to get a nice one for school. Everyone I have talked to has said not to because they walk, but I want make sure I can hear what I need to hear...KWIM. I ordered my uniforms from the Elgee, but I don't know if they even placed the orders yet. My Mom actually ordered for me and went a bit crazy...lol. I am getting 3 uniforms and got 2 lab coats. Do you know what is in the nurses pac that we have to have from the book store? I'll probably have my parents pick one up sometime soon. We need so much stuff it is hard to keep everything straight. Did you appy for any scholarships? I have applied for a few, but no word yet. We'll good luck with everything. Alitia
  11. Alissa, I have Basic Mon 5:30-9:30, lab practice on Tues, clinicals 3:30-8:30 on Wed, Pharm 5:30-8:30 on Thurs for the first 7 weeks. After that I have Basic every Mon and Pharm twice a week every other week and clinicals twice a week every other week. So one week I will have Pham twice and no clinicals and the next week I will have clinicals twice and no Phram. Hope that made some since. We can also go to lab practice on Fri as we see fit. We have to go in early the days we have test also. If you have any other questions I will do my best to answer them. Good Luck on your PAX:) Alitia
  12. Jenny, We should be in the same Basic and Pham class. I hope I can get my clinicals changed, but we will see. I was lucky to get what I got I guess. I ordered my uniforms a month ago and have all of my books. I have a bunch of the made easy books too I hope they help. I still need shoes and a stethoscope what kind are you getting? I am taking my CPR class in Covington on June 23rd and will get my physical and insurance done in June also. I live in Slidell, but may be staying Monday-Thursday with my parents in their apartment which is in New Orleans. My parents go home to Slidell on the weekends so I will have to go home then too. I live in Slidell with my husband and my 13 month old son. I don't work as I have been told nursing school and working isn't a good idea or at least isn't easy. I don't have anyone to watch my son anyway and really don't want to put him in daycare. Hope to hear back from you soon and good luck. Alitia
  13. Hey, I am in the evening classes also..not by choice...lol. Are you taking Pharm on Sat morning or Wed/Thurs evening? I was going to take it on Sat, but changed it. I wanted clinicals at Charity, but I have them at the VA unless a spot frees up at Charity. Do you have all of your books yet and uniforms ordered? Do you live in Slidell? I'll be looking forward to hearing back from you. Alitia
  14. Hello, I made a 147 on the PAX and have a 4.0 overall. Getting in was not hard, but it did take quite a while. It takes a year from the date your application was put in...no exceptions. I put my application in March 2002 and was not able to start until Aug 2004. I think your have to pretty much wait 2 FULL semesters after you appy to get in. Charity has no waiting list either. The teachers seem nice enough, but the admission staff is awful. They lose everything (make copies) and don't know anything. Ask 3 different people and you will get 3 different answers. I registered online just so I would not have to deal with them. I live in Slidell so I took all of my classes at the Slidell/Northshore campus. Mirco and A&P I &II were both pretty difficult. What Math and Eng are you in? I would really try to get your prerequisites done before you start at Charity. Good Luck let me know if you have any other questions. Alitia
  15. Hello everyone, I will be attending Charity School of Nursing in the Fall of 2004 for my first of 4 semesters. Anyone else going to Charity? Alitia
