  1. Well everyone, I made 92 percentile on the NET test, really surprised all the office workers at the school, even impressed the instructor, considering the fact I only have a GED. But it's been many years since I have worked and I may have a problem with even finding a record that I did work there. Seems like the instructor isn't much on personal references so If I don't get accepted this will be what does me in. If I can't get what she needs I'm going to consult with the asst. administrator and see what I can work out, if anything. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :) ps- seems so unfair as now I have time for me and almost 0 responsibility at home, no obstacles but this.
  2. I am studying for the NET test now. School already has 300+ apps. and will only accept 49 students but I intend to give it my best shot. Thank you to everyone who responded.
  3. The ages of these ladies is amazing. Maybe I'm worried about nothing.:chuckle
  4. I know it's not too late to go to LPN school but I am very concerned about my age and it being a factor in getting a job when thru with school. I've given most of my life to kids, home, marriage and now that my responsibilities are minimal, I think it's time for me. Please be honest with your opinions. We will not qualify for any financial aid and I don't want to start something that will not produce a job when thru. Not counting a year of studying. Yes, hindsight is most definitely 20/20. If I had the last 20 years to relive I would have thought of myself some, but can't go back and undo mistakes. Opinions please, even brutal ones are welcome. :)
  5. Since it's only a slight possibility we'll be moving to that area I researched the school. I found their web-site from going to yellow pages, location-crossville,tn, schools, technical schools, scolled down and there is the web-site link and phone number. When you look at the PN course and description you'll see what I copied and pasted above. Might be a good idea and follow the above advice and call about the specific parts of the course that get you ready for state board. The surgical technology course looks interesting to me also. If you find out anything helpful, please post it. Thanks :)
  6. caring for a patient's personal hygiene assisting with injections and treatment taking temperature, pulse and blood pressure providing post-mortem care helping feed infants changing bandages this is it. if this is not aide training , please tell me what it is. doesn't say dispensing meds, giving injections (just assisting) etc. somebody please enlighten me.
  7. is the PN and RN programs there? Anyone know how long it takes for PN training? Thanks.
  8. Can anyone tell me how the RN program is there and if you can do any clinicals at Covington?
  9. :chuckle I've had a garage sale, gonna have 2 more before we move and sell the biggest furniture. Been to the areas mentioned in title and got a general feel for the area. Nobody asked "Where are you from?", thought that was a good sign.:chuckle
  10. We have been down and looked around at some houses for sale around Lewisburg and south of Columbia. I have to be in the country as we always have a garden and I have chickens that I don't want to part with.I do have my eye on Maury Regional and if things work out I intend to do the part-time program for RN later. I am from the south and would like to get BELOW the Mason-Dixon line again, this time to stay. Thanks for your advice.:)
  11. Was wondering because I've been treated like an outsider for the 5 years we have lived in MO. Recently got a diploma in dental assisting. Was told in first interview that I wouldn't fit in with the people of MO. I am a mature woman and can't compete with the eyecandy the dentists seem to want. Wasted money on that course. Am so ready to leave this place. I think I'm just as good as they are, probably better because I judge a person by their character not where they're from. Somebody please tell me how the majority of people would see me. I really don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I speak with a country, southern accent, like gardening, have and love my chickens and do not pretend to be something I'm not. Would I have a problem with this if I move to middle TN, go to school and try to get a nursing job? Or do I need to go further south? Thanks to any who reply because I need honest answers.
  12. Can you tell me the best places to work and where not to go? Please include Pulaski and Lewisburg. Also is it hard to get into Tenn Tech for LPN training? Thanks to all who respond.
  13. I hope I can find a place where I can go for LPN in 13-14 months.I was born and raised about 90 miles from Baton Rouge.I have a southern accent; reckon ya'll could stand that?:rotfl: People here in Misery (I meant Missouri) do not accept "outsiders".
  14. how long would it be for RN (BS) degree? In some states it only takes 1 yr. to be a LPN. Why is there such a difference in time from one state to another?
