I start the nursing program at a community college in January and our school only designated that our uniforms be white! I cannot find any professional white uniforms except for a few styles. Does anyone know of anyplace I can buy white nursing uniforms online? I am not skinny and white is not exactly flattering when you have padding. :chuckle

Any advice on websites or flattering uniforms would be appreciated. I want to look professional.

Believe it or not but Walmart, Target, and Burlington Coat Factory sells white uniforms. I love the flared pants from Burlington and they are a very reasonable price.

I have heard that dickies brand makes good uniforms as well.

Good luck :)

At my CC we also have to wear all white. I didn't have white scrubs, as this was not the requirement. White pants (very hard to find in the Fall), white shirt, white lab coat, white socks (of course) and pure white shoes. No logos are allowed unless extremely un-noticable. I would also buy some bleach!! Two of everything is recommended. Put one of EVERYTHING in your trunk, incase you show up to clinicals in your slippers (oooops). If you get "dirty", you will be so glad you can get a change of clothes out of your car to finish your day with.

The white scrubs at Walmart might as well be saran wrap. Unless you really enjoy "peek-a-boo" games. I have heard that the ones at Burlington Coat Factory are nice, and a large selection to boot, but I have not checked them out yet (thanks for the reminder Jess!). I have heard of some you can buy online that are not seethrough, but I am too lazy to search these threads, so there!

Kohl's has some Reebox that are all white, and nice looking too! I bought mine on sale for about $35 and they are in the box, waiting for my letter to arrive. I had to have white shoes for the hospital I volunteer at, so I found, what might be my clinical shoes too (Reebox in the trunk). They are called TreadSafe. Right now, since it is the Fall and white is the color of sin, they mostly have black ones, but if you go from store to store you just might find some. Also, look up on the top shelf where the regular shoes are at. That's where mine were hiding. They have no laces, no velcro, no nothin! Slip ons, thick, and comfy comfy comfy!

Have fun looking for white stuff this time of year! Don't forget to try JCPenneys, Mervyn's, etc. in the mall.

Woogy

ugh! I hate the idea of all white uniforms. Why can't they let you wear colored pants? And what happens if you happen to wear purple underwear one day?

Ok...mini rant over :)

a few websites for you to try:

www.allheart.com They have dickies, which are soo comfortable! And actually thick enough that they arent see through.

http://www.lydiasuniforms.com Great selection, different brands, good prices.

For white shoes I am in love with easy spirits. They run about 45 dollars, and feel so great on your feet! I wasnt a fan of nursemates, they made my baby toe go numb (and they were the right size)

We had to wear white and blue scrubs for clinical, and that was all we could wear. At our local med supply store I found white flare pants which were great, by Barco. I'm a huge fan of barco flares.

Good luck!

We were required to buy our tops from http://www.doveapparel.com and yes they are white but they have been really easy to keep clean and they don't really have to be ironed if you hang them up right out of the dryer. Our pants, we could buy anywhere (white). The tops from dove are about 45.00 a piece with shipping. They are pretty comfortable and I love all the pockets. Hope this helps!:)

I wear all white also. I found the Cherokee pants are a little less see through than the rest. I started out with a Cherokee collared shirt but it was too stuffy. Now I have a Peaches shirt (#4602) and I wear the white pants from Walmart. My shirt is long enough to cover my butt and it's not too fitted. I bought all white New Balance shoes from Kohls when they were on sale for $35. This is the shirt I have:

We also have to wear all white. I bought mine online from Jasco. I am finishing my last semester and am still using the 2 uniforms I bought first semester. They have lasted really well, even being washed so much. Be sure to wear beige underwear so nothing shows thru!

:rotfl: Guess it's gonna have to be white cotton briefs throughout nursing school :p

I am in the same boat :)

I have to wear white for work, and Ive found that Dickies are great! The pants are pretty thick, but not too hot like some that are considered to be 'no see thorough' are.

Our school uses Landau and they are not at all see-through, plus very professional styles with button-down and collars if necessary. Honey, look at it this way, we have a required uniform that consists of elastic waist, tapered leg white pants, a button-down collared shirt with the school patch on the side. A weird apron/smock thing that is hideous and worst of all, a traditional nursing cap. Count yourself lucky that you get to wear white scrubs. Our uniforms don't look good on the 2 itty-bitty girls in my class, let alone the rest of us who have had babies or overindulge in food.

I wouldn't wear white cotton undies 'cause it's real obvious where the panties end and your legs begin. You're actually better off wearing flesh colored (or as close as you can get... ecru? biege?) underwear. Another option is to wear white panty hose. That will conceal a lot. And sometimes support hose are helpful.

Sheesh. White pants. What are they THINKING???
