I didnt get in

I didnt get the letter... So I always have that to make me depressed another day.

The college called me to report that I did not make it in. I am on the Waiting List for placement. They assured me that a "Significant" number drop out during the year and I had a chance on getting in during the semester I was shooting for.

So....I feel like a big fat failure today. I know its stupid, but I feel like Ive let my family down.

(This happened last year) Apparently THREE people who wanted to be placed here were on the waiting list and got on before they were schedualed to start.... so I guess there is that.

They said my Priority points were high, but my GPA was just under what they wanted. That makes me mad, my GPA is lower than what I WANT because of the FIRST time I went to school (12 years ago). Since I've been back in school, I have worked my butt off to get it up. I have gotten only 1 B and 2C's in the past 3 years of school.

Oh welll..... Now, where's the chocolate....

Don't be so hard on yourself! I know lots of people who didn't get into nursing school on their first try. Heck, there are plenty of people on this board who have gone through exactly what you're going through right now.

The school was probably being truthful when they told you that a lot of people drop out during the first year. I know that's the case at my school. So there's still a chance you'll get in! If not, just apply again! You can do it!

I soooooo hope you can get in! It breaks my heart! No matter what, your grades are good and I'm sure you'll be in in no time! I heard something along the lines of 1/3 of nursing students drop.

Keep your head up and eat some chocolate!:o

Sorry you didn't get in. I know how it feels. I was wait listed at my first choice school (#6 on the list). It felt hopeless at the time. I did, however, get into another school...and went to orientation there. The 2nd choice school was ok, but I felt heartbroken. I kept hoping to get into the other school. I was actually at orientation & called my family at lunch break, to learn that a spot opened up at my first choice school! What a miracle. I dropped out of the orientation at school #2 and packed my bags. I got into my favorite nursing program at #6 on the list! I had good grades & everything, but remember- schools are impacted. Keep your fingers crossed- you might get in after all.

I know it has to be discouraging. You work so hard to get to this point yet all you can do is wait. I already hate this process and I'm just starting!

Hang in there!

Hang in there and don't lose faith! It'll happen!

Connie,

Stay away from the chocolate....:D Hey you never know...someone may forfeit their spot and they may call you. If not..do you have to wait for next September or do they have a Jan. start? Sending ((Huge Hugs)) to you.

Hugs,

Fatima

Thanks for all the emotional support. Thats why I love this board.

I have a MAJOR headpounder today... wonder why, could it be the tears and stress?! HA

I talked to the school again and I am on the waiting list unless someone drops until April, then I can reapply, if I got accepted then I would start the FOLLOWING summer, which means a full year with NO SCHOOL...

Thats what is scary. I know by getting 2 full semesters of A's my GPA should be really high and my priority points would be outta this world..... its just the "what ifs" and what works best for my family.

There is hope, it may be small.... but its there

I really feel for you and understand the anger with the GPA - I decided to go the BSN route for that reason alone.

I'm sure you've been this route, but is there any other school you can consider, if its a distance?

Connie,

I'm sorry that you didn't get in this time. I know you were anxiously waiting for that letter and must be feeling really crushed now.

YOU have not let anyone down. This unfortunately is just another obstacle in your way. You have worked your butt off and it WILL pay off. It is my hope that someone will drop out and you will get in when you want. If not, I know you will get in eventually and when you do, it will be so sweet for you because you will know the feeling of having worked so hard to get where you are.

Just remember, where God closes one door, another is opened. Don't give up. Everything happens for a reason. I believe something better will come along for you. Hang in there!

I know just how you feel, I didn't get in this fall either. Like others have said, many don't get in on the first try. It doesn't mean you're a failure. Just do whatever it takes to have a better chance of getting in next time. That is, if you don't get a spot before then to replace someone who dropped out. Sending good vibes your way.
