    Its like everything else you do for the first time! The next time is more familiar and you learn what is expected of you. Be sure to watch out for those hungry student eating nurse!!!! :-) ( Just kidding Robin...just kidding!! )

    I start clinicals on March 12th and I am a little scared of what to expect. I hope all goes well for you.

    You will do just fine!!!!!! I promise! The first day of clinical is scary for everyone that goes through it. From the first day of school until now, you have probably learned a lot and now you are ready to put it to use. Take big deep breaths and try to relax. You are not expected to be perfect you are expected to learn.
    Best to you!

    I just did my first day of clinical last tuesday and was so scared going in! then it turned out not to be QUITE as bad as I thought it would. I have to go again tomorrow and I'm scared again, but I think that may last through the whole clinical. But my professors were right, they told us we were ready and they didn't have us do anything we weren't capable of. I came out of it with a huge smile on my face realizing over again that I really have picked the right way to spend my life. Just remember to take big deep breaths like Gator said, it really helps. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you!

    It's natural to be a little nervous when you try something new. I hope you have a good and decent clinical instructor. The evil ones can make clinicals rough.

    The first minute of the first day is the hardest...after that it's much easier!!! I thought I was going to die rigth before I introduced myself to my very first patient...but - here I am!! Still alive!! I survived and you will too!!! Keep us updated!

    ~~Excited, nervous, scared? All normal! Finally, I'm six short weeks away from being finished with clinicals, yet clinicals were the saving grace of nursing school. if not for clinicals i couldn't have survived school.

    ~~~~Enjoy and have fun~~~
    Gator said it best. I'm plagiarizing here.
    Make sure you come back and tell us how it went, Robin!
    Well..the clinical part wasn't that bad....after my client told me I could touch him any time and tried to look down my shirt that is,LOL. I think I got all the info I was such a blur that I am praying. Now I have to sit down and do.....PA paperwork, Cluster sheet....plan of care.....Medical management profile...and pharmacology worksheet...all due at 8 AM in the morning. I'll be up all night.....
    Now for the bad....I was sick and out with Dr's note the day of math test for meds.....took it with no clue what to expect and failed. Retook the next day thinking I could do it and missed one too many. Took it today....had one right that I really felt was wrong so I changed it.....then I was working one and the teacher asked me something...lost my train of thought and forgot to put my 0 in front of .67 so I failed it again by missing one too many. I am SO upset...all of this because of stupid mistakes. I will probably get written up a critical incident tomorrow because I have not passed this test yet. I am is not that hard....warm thoughts please.....thanks for the support....
    Well, just look at it as a lesson learned.....don't let anyone interupt you. Think of it as getting meds ready for a patient---next time your teacher or anyone else tries to ask you something, tell them you're doing meds & will speak with them after you're done.
    We had orientation today at our clinicals. Tomorrow is the big day. A little nervous, but I'm sure I'll do just fine. It should be interesting. We're starting out in a nursing home.
    No meds today so no critical incident..passed it with 100 this afternoon. My client from yesterday went home last night so I got a new one and have to REDO ALL my paperwork that I spent 9 hours on last night...I am so irritated.....oh well....won't be the first or the last time I'm sure.
