I just borrowed a book from the library to get a leg up on when I start school in April. It's called NCLEX Questions and Answers made Incredibly Easy 2nd edition,it just came out and has 3,000 questions.

I have several recommendations for supplemental study books. If fluids and electrolytes is part of your med surg curriculum, you should look for the Prentice Hall Nursing series. They have a book called Fluids, Electrolytes, & Acid-Base Balance that saved my life in med surg, since my instructor was not so great. They also have a Pathophysiology book and a Med-Surg Nursing book that are great for disease process and nursing care. These books all have pre and post tests in each chapter, as well as a CD-ROM with additional questions and study activities. I swear by them, since the texts used in my school are sometimes hard to follow. I also recommend Stein's NCLEX-RN Review and the Kaplan NCLEX-RN book (this is a great book to help with test taking strategies, and advice on analyzing test questions and critical thinking advice, but is not specific to med surg). All of these books are available through Barnes and Noble and are about 20-30 dollars each. If your local bookstore does not have a large Nursing section, they can special order them for you.
Hope this helps!

I've seen lots of votes for Sauders around here. I just went for orientation and they told us we should buy the Saunders NCLEX before we even started classes!

Saunders all the way....Linda Silvestri used to be an instructor at my college...and my Maternity instructor (who was a phenomenal mentor) wrote for this book also...(she is the one who told us about this book) actually a couple of other instructors from my college wrote for this book that I saw in the list inside the cover as well.........it is a good book though...I am using it to study for NCLEX as I am waiting to get mt ATT notice as we speak.... Borders books sells it, thats where I got mine...
