Welcome and Good luck with your prereqs. I don't think the lottery method is fair either. Although my school does do a lottery for getting accepted into the program, they do a lottery to determine clinical sites. I don't think that is fair either, but what can you do.
I too am interested in working in Labor and Delivery. I thought all the nurses were great when I had my children. But you never know where school might take me.
I too have small children (4 and 1 1/2). You will enjoy this site as it is very informative and helpful.
Chelle:
Welcome to the board and good luck in your education.
My school is the exact opposite... they base everything on your GPA and ACT score, and don't even have the courtesy to conduct interviews. Oh, well. Luckily I got in when I was ready to.
There are lots of folks here in the same stage of education as you... I remember when I was just starting and now I only have 2 semesters left. Time flies!
Nice to meet you!:roll
Chelle Welcome and Good Luck with your pre-req's
In my program you also have to apply a year in advance, seats are filled on a first come first serve basis.. regardless of GPA's as long as the GPA is not below 2.5... so Go figure!
I discovered this site back in May when I started my working on my pre-req's and I LOVE THIS SITE!
I Hope to enter the program Fall 2003
Keep us posted!

Hello!
I'm Chelle, and I've been lurking on this site for about a month now, and decided this looked like a really friendly, supportive group!
I'm married, and mom to Conner (2 1/2) and Skyla (10 months). I've considered becoming a nurse for about a year now, and after being inspired by the AWESOME nurse that helped me deliver my daughter and a lot of soul searching, I've decided to go for it. I'd like to become a L & D nurse, but I'm planning on going through school with an open mind in case I find some other area of nursing I like better.
I've been admitted, but haven't registered for my fall classes yet. They are just pre-req's to get into the nursing program. I'm a little worried about getting into the program because I was told that applicants were chosen by lottery. I have to apply a whole year in advance, so I'm really scared of passing my pre-req's and being approved for the program and then not getting in simply because of a little bad luck in the lottery.
Anyways, I can't wait to get to know you all!
:)
