A very sad day for me.

  1. Last night I got a call that one of my dear friends from church was being called to active duty and shipping on Thursday. This morning I went to church to witness his baptism and taking of the eucharist.

This is the second person that I know this is happening to. The first was from my nursing class and God only knows where he was shipped to. His family doesn't even know.

While in church I came to the realization that by going to nursing school, it is where I am supposed to be in life right now. The things that I am learning and will carry forward are things that the world needs right now.

As nurses, we have the history of always being there for the soldiers, and other people of the world. To heal both physically and spiritually the wounds that life has given to them.

I just want to say to all of you....thank you. Your job is a tough one, but also rewarded by the looks in those people's eyes that you have helped.

    Thank you.

Well said, essarge. My neice's husband was sent to Kuwait in October(Army). He is supposed to get to come home in March if we don't have war by then. He drives a Bradly tank. They need our prayers.

Yes, they do need our prayers.
My nephew's unit shipped out yesterday for the middle east. Another nephew is stationed in Germany and soon to go to Turkey. I am deeply concerned for their safety and the safety of all our young men.
    Scarey times right now.

One of my doctors just got the call for active duty. How frightening is this?

God Bless those who protect our country!

    Hi all,

As a Navy wife for the last 11 yrs., I just wanted to extend a big thank you for your kind words. While I am torn over whether or not the war that it looming is correct or not... I will always stand proud of the job that my husband (and my extended military "family") does.

Navy spouses here in San Diego are planning a "Support Our Soilders" rally outside the naval base this weekend as a response to the anti-war protests going on here....just to let our men and women know that regardless of our political views we support them and appreciate their sacrifice.

    Praying for peace,

Don't forget our young ladies in the military please......

Ooops...sorry...didn't see any references to female soldiers but just noticed one in above post. They all need our prayers.

Please tell your husband and everyone that he works with that our thoughts and prayers are with them. If I could make it out there from Delaware, I'd be standing right beside you! Hey! You could make a sign for me??? ESSARGE SUPPORTS YOU!!! LOL!!

God watch over all of us while this is happening!

I couldn't have put it better myself. I've wandered about the realms of academia for awhile and the current world situations have made me realize that what I'm doing is a good thing, that I'm doing the right thing for myself and for others, and that there needs to be more of us!

My sympathies on your friends being shipped out. I found out just yesterday one of my best friends is being shipped out within two weeks. We don't know where to, which makes us all the more uneasy. All we can do is pray that this will be over quickly, and continue with out work/studies.

My stepbrother was planning on going to the Air Force in April, but he got called for training early and has been gone for a month.

Father, protect all our military men and women from harm, and keep us all safe in the months to come.

Love the smiley mkue! It's too bad that there wasn't some way to start an email penpal thing with some of these people that are going. I for one would be more than happy to email someone that is in the military and away from home.
