We were taught that there are ten rights, five basic one's and then five additional rights. They are as follows:
The Basic Five
1) Right patient
2) Right dose
3) Right route
4) Right time
5) Right drug
The Additional Five
6) Right assessment
7) Right education
8) Right documentation
9) Right evaluation
10) Right to refuse

Our 6th right is to educate the patient. We were taught "MEDCRT" (med cart)
M = right med
E = educate the client
D = right dose
C = right client
R = right route
T = right time

Obviously the "Rights" depend on where you went to school. I was taught:
Right Patient
Right Dose
Right Route
Right time
Right medication
Right documentation

There were only five when I went to nursing school. Thanks for the additional education. :)
