Jun 12, '09"..so, I'll probably go that route for a few years before pursuing flight nursing. ...should probably just focus on getting my RN first though. [/quote]
I did not revive this post, it was already revived....oh wait I am in my forties, in my prime, way to go me ..... no no, it was not me, really. I just enjoy reading post from people a lot busier than I am and doing great :bowingpur there is hope for me still. The thing that worries me is that if I fail one class to repeat it I have to wait one year to re-take as the part time program only opens once a year at Miami Dade College.
Ok,so Jennie, in one of my times studying for an exam for Fundamentals, I met a fire fighter that was studying nursing to become a flight nurse. I thought that was super interesting until he told me only firefighters can become flight nurses. Glad to see that he was wrong as you want to pursue that. Something to consider
Jun 12, '09Hey everybody!!!
I am 32 and starting my 3rd semester of an ADN program at El Centro College (Dallas Texas) in August it is truly flying by sometimes I need it to slow down but not too much because I can't wait to graduate. I have two kids, one of each ( 13 year old boy and 8 year old girl) I also have a fiance that is my oldest . Just looking forward to August to get this last string of nursing school in full swing. It's almost over..... I wish everyone success in their studies.
Jun 13, '09Hi everyone,
I'm 27 years old. I'm single and don't have any children. I recently had to move back in with my mother because I couldn't pay the bills while working 20 hours a week. I'm in the second year of a 3 year BSN program. I would be starting my senior year this fall, but I have to repeat a course. This summer and fall I'll probably just take a few online courses and work to earn some money. The class I have to repeat isn't taught until next spring. I work as a nurse tech at a hospital. My goal is to become a nurse and now I know there has to be sacrifices in order to achieve that goal.
Jun 13, '09Keeping the thread alive:
I am 27, turning 28 in October. Married, no 2 legged kids, just one 2yr old great dane that things he is a child. Been married almost 6 years, starting school this fall in a 12 month LPN program *hopefully*, if I do not get into that program, I am set to get my pre-req out of the way this fall. Just hoping I get in to the LPN program.
Jun 13, '09I'm 29 (holy crap) but I feel 18, so that's good, lol! I'm a bit jealous of these girls and guys that are 20 year old nursing students and it scares me to know that when I start working, there will be RNs my age that have been working for 10+ years. Anyway...I'm a SAHM to 2 kids...they're 5 and 2. I started taking prereqs like 7 years ago but dropped out...I regret that. It's so much harder now with kids and imagine it'll be harder once I start the actual program this fall. Anyway....good luck everyone!
Jun 14, '09Hello!
I'm 25 and start nursing school this fall at Clark College in Vancouver, Wa. The first day of classes will be on my 26th birthday! I'm married and have a 3 year old daughter and a 4 month old son, they are my motivation to make it through nursing school. I want to be successful not only for me, but for my family.
I cant wait to start the program in Sept., it's exciting and scary all at the same time. I have been a CNA for about 5 years, I'm hoping all my CNA experience will give me a leg up in ns!!!
Good Luck to all entering a program or currently in one!!! Can't wait to join you all in the nursing world
Jun 14, '09Hello !
About me: 20, will be finishing LPN program this July. Getting married in Aug. Going back to school this fall to finish pre-reqs for the RN program and hopefully start the LPN-RN bridge fall of 2010. After my ADN, I plan on getting my BSN. Hopefully I'll have it all done before 25 that way my future hubby and I can settle down and have kids. My ultimate goal is to be a L/D nurse.
Jun 15, '09Hello, everyone!
I am a 29-year old wife and mom, married two years to my partner of 8 years. Our son is three. I am appling to accelerated BSN programs in the NYC area, and will have finished my pre-reqs by December.
I currently work in clinical research, but my hubby and I decided that a nursing degree would be a huge asset, especially as we do not always want to be in NYC. I adore clinical research, but if we move to, like, Scranton, PA or something, my options would be very limited. Also, we want to live in Zimbabwe, Africa for a couple of years (that is where my hubby is from), and nursing would be a great use of my time there.
Anyway, it's nice to hear from so many others "in the same boat"- career changers, new to nursing, multiple obligations. Good luck to everyone!
Jun 15, '09Hello,
