With all the things I want to do in the day,Id have to get by on 5 hrs of sleep per night.

How much sleep do you need? Could you get by with less to accomplish your goals?

*sigh* unfortunately I'm a nightowl in a daytime world.

Me too, Lausana! It's the worst part of a "9 to 5" job--I am an evening shift person, always have been, always will be. I've managed to flex my time so I don't have to start until 0930, and it's STILL excruciatingly painful for me to get up that early. And it's virtually impossible for me to get to sleep before midnight or so.

Well what I need and what I actually get are 2 different things..LOL

I should try to get about 9 hours of sleep, but usually go on4 to 6 hours.

its not uncommon for me to be wide awake at 3am but its quite another story if I have to wake up at 5am for work on the dreaded dayshift

I too am a night person trapped in a world run by day shifters..

bleh

I love to sleep

need 8 hours

would love 10

probably get 6 daily

I also am a PM person in a day shift job. Just can't make myself go to bed early, cause I'm online at ALLNURSES. I prob. get 5.5 to 6 hrs. MOre on weekends when I'm off.

god, i'd love to sleep... um... I have school from tues to fri, 1-5pm, on thurs, tack on an 8a-12 p class too.... I usually do some 12-8 shifts, with thurs and fri off, and a double on saturdays.... I should be sleeping now, but I'm wide awake... so, I suppose its at least 2 hrs a session... goddess hope for more... I usually sleep all monday....

I'm a displaced evening person, working nights...

Who needs sleep?

Say what's that for?

Who needs sleep?

There's a guy been awake since the second world war.

I probably quoted that wrong.

I've never (ever) slept as much as I wanted to. Once I slept 15 hours and I was very very sore and achy, but my hubby woke me up, I didn't just naturally wake up. Some time I'd like to as an experiment just see how long I'd sleep if nobody woke me up.

Do people realy get 8 hrs of sleep?!

Man that would be awsome!

I get about 5.5 hrs a night (no wonder I'm so depressed)LoL.

Nightperson here (would make a great vampire).

During vacations I can get realy OUTTA WACK!

Have early day job so it's kinda hard.

On the weekend I pull a Badbird and play catch up though. hehe

When I am able to get sleep, I sleep a lot and late late. But I have been known to go for three-four days with 0 hours of sleep and function just fine (3rd shift work) You do what you gotta do:D

I do touch and goes all night long. I have to wear ear plugs to bed cause the dogs next door won't shut up. Yes, I've talked to them, called the 5-0, called animal control. Nothing happens. So...ear plugs seem to work. Ya know I could of just said I get 4-5 hours instead of all this rambling on. :)

I have had terrible insomnia. Would fall asleep OK at 10 PM but would be wide awake at 1:00 AM and lie there the rest of the night, wide awake. Felt wonderful if I had to work daylight. LOL! Now I'm on estrogen and progesterone(yes, I know the risks) and I am sleeping so much better, 5-6 hrs/nite. Feels like heaven.

My sleep cycle is soooo screwed up since I've been on nights that I don't know if I'm coming or going half the time. The first day I'm off I come home and sleep like I usually do every morning because I'm used to doing that, then I'm awake all evening 'til about 11pm. I cat nap on the nights I'm off, 2hrs here, 2 hrs there then by 10am I'm exhausted and ready to sleep like I always do at that time. I'm a physical mess. I should work days, but I won't put up with their crapola. My eyes are drooping so back to bed I go!

Sleep becomes more important to me as I find out more about homeostasis. Me: I can be a 7-9 hour person at my best.

A nurse depends on a normal sleep pattern, and that means we are dealing with a lifetime issue, and the concept of frequency if you want to look at this mathmatically. Sleeping is not like a bank where you can take from and put in hours of sleep to "make up" for "lost" sleep. When you "miss" those hours of sleep, part of you dies, I believe.

The better half of my life I love is in my dreams, and occurs only when i am asleep. Wake up, little susy, wake up :-( I'm sorry
