Who needs to sleep

With all the things I want to do in the day,Id have to get by on 5 hrs of sleep per night.

How much sleep do you need? Could you get by with less to accomplish your goals?

I need about 8 hours per night. If I don't get them I spend my entire weekend playing catch-up. I am horrible to be around if I haven't had enough sleep. Don't know how some of you do it with only 4 or 5 hours.

If it's a night before I work (12-hour days), I go with about 5 hours of sleep. That leaves me time to work out in the morning before I leave. If I have a day off, I'll sleep in about 9 or 10 hours (plus a nap during the day :p ).

I need 8 hours every night, more if I'm stressed.

I used to be a 8-9 hour a night person ...then I had children ;) There were days with a newborn and an 18 month old that 2 hours was about all I got - that's why I feel pretty good with 5. Now I feel well rested on 6-7 & can function just fine on 5 (but not too many days in a row)

BTW - Coffee IS my best friend!

People who knew me before ...can't believe I am not in bed before 11 and up @ 5 LOL

I am not worth a darn if I don't get at least 8 hrs....more is even better. I used to go on fewer but not now. Just shoot me if I have to ever do 3 rd shift again...I always felt ill....and got very depressed.

Not a nurse yet but a full time student, full time employee, full time mom, full time wife. I generally get 5 hours of sleep a night. After a while my body just got used to it. I'm not saying it happened over night but somewhere along the line it did.

Hee, hee....I am also one of those people that can sleep practically standing up if you leave me in one place for too long.

what I hate is when you finally go to bed and all you do is lay there and replay your day over and over and then even dream about it. When I worked in home health every AM when the alarm would ring I would reach for my beeper or if I was out in ouplic and I heard a beep I would grab for my hip! Pavlo's theroy

Heh! At a previous job, I was part of the hospital code team (we had specific hospital flyers that would go to every code -- I was one of them). One night while I was sleeping in my basement bedroom, sleeping in the buff as I always do, I had a dream that I was sleeping at work and heard "Code Blue" called overhead.

Before I knew it, I had thrown the covers off the bed and run up the stairs. I finally woke up standing in the living room, naked, with my roommate and his girlfriend staring in shock!

I politely excused myself and went back to bed. The funny part was the look on my cat's face when I went back downstairs. Apparently, in the excitement, I had thrown her off the bed and she landed on the sofa across the room.

I would love to be able to get by with 5 hours. There is so much more that I could do! But, by 9:30 - 10:00 pm I am pretty much worthless - gotta be in bed!

Depends on what shift Im on, if Ive got a 7.15am start I only get about 5-6, if Im on a 2pm start then I'll get around 9.

I would sleep much longer if I got the chance, I have to set an alarm if Im on lates or days off or Id sleep well in to the afternoon.

When I'm tired I can fall asleep almost anywhere too! I fall asleep on the toilet in the morning all the time :chuckle

I usually try to get 6 hrs, if I could sleep all I wanted I'd sleep from midnight to 8:30 then just stay in bed and watch tv...ahhh.

*sigh* unfortunately I'm a nightowl in a daytime world.
