I went back to school at 28. The journey was long and at time frustrating but now I appreciate what the degree and knowledge is providing for my family. Now at 32, I am a witness to my children and the people that I encounter in my life's journey, that it can be done! I did struggle with bills while in school and worked practically full time to make sure that the blow to my family wasn't so hard. I think the most frustrating thing for me was the Monday AM conversations during lecture from the (younger) students about all of the parties they attended over the weekend---during lecture. I have given birth to 3 boys and all of them were circed. My dh is not circed. No opinion here. Unless you have some religious beliefs that encourage circs, go ahead. My dh was the first person I have been intimate with that wasn't and I see no difference. I was there with all 3 circs of my sons and they wern't in any pain (anesthesia used). Consult with your dh or so and appreciate his opinion.

consider yourself getting off easy I am in my 3rd year of classes and I am looking at 16-18 credits per semester. It is all about time management.

The hospital i just accepted a nurse intern position just offered me a 15,000 bonus. I am still a nursing student. The only thing is that I will have to offer a 2 year commitment with them after graduation (which will be in 1 1/2 years). Sounds like a pretty good deal for me. They also offer tuition reimbursement while I am working there. This is the hospital I wanted to work at. Maybe you should relocate to Wisconsin. They are begging for nurses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BTW they will reimburse me if I pass my NCLEX-RN provided that I pass. Keep Looking!

I haven't even read the entire thread but...I started out as an MA and that was truly the only job that I enjoyed in my working experience. I only left the job and went back to clerical work after I really felt the impact of the wage difference. I made 4 dollars more as an AA. The practice I worked at didn't have the "greater than thou" attitude that you are insinuating (sp). Actually the doc I worked for only hired MA's and trained student nurses. He was strictly high risk pregnancies. The midwives handled everything else. The doc I worked for was definitely cheap. I could count on one hand the days that I was actually able to take a lunch break but it was so much fun. I am a person that believes that if you want something bad enough, you will find a way to do it. I am VERY happily married with 5 children (3 of my own, 2 through kinship), working full time and am still a full time student. This didn't happen overnight. I went though semester after semester of taking a class here and there. I don't know your situation, but there is always a Plan B. If you want to be an RN be one!
