I love LTC/geriatric nursing. The residents keep me there...I love them all. There are some there that I've known for 20 years. The money also keeps me there and I've actually been there too darn long now to quit and start anywhere else. I'd never even come close to making the money I am now at any other facility. The beenies are good and for the most part the people are friendly...no one eats their young or old.
What keeps me in Public Health right now? I am sick to death of hospital politics, I have been at this job 2 months, and I figure if I can do ER, I can eventually do anything. Oh!!! Less stress, cooperative and supportive management, and M-F, only have to work 7 wknds q year, double-time-and-a-half holiday pay, holidays (lots of holidays), supportive, friendly and happy coworkers, and 8:30-4:30 hours, and hour off for lunch, oh, what else???
I stay where I work because it's the best hospital on earth, in an up-beat, super-trendy neighborhood that is centrally located and within 30 minute bicycle shot. The nurses where I work are giants to me in terms of knowledge and physical (psycho-motor) abilities...all of them. The benifits are pretty comprhensive. I get a yearly transit pass for $30.00. Mostly because of the staff there, and especially on my floor. In some cosmic way, I radiate the same positive energy and love they do, i can't explain.
what really keeps me working at my job is my staff and how well we get along. our manager is cool she is always trying to help out when we get very short. i love it there. i do not want to resign there unless i leave the state. plus i don't work fulltime be perdiem and it allows me total freedom with my schedule.
i can't work in an environment where there is a bunch of bytches who moan and keep drama in the unit. i resigned from a hospital like that. no one was friendly and you can forget helping out. i like getting along and work together to get through the nights, especially when it gets really hard.

Hi all, would like to know what things about your job keep you there??? Seniority, pay, benefits, convenience, professionalism, experiences, working conditions, mentorships, etc.???
Let us know.
Thanks,
