Don't know about your particular state but at my hospital we use CNAs as Techs on our psych units. Great job imo almost no lifting or below the belt care if you know what I mean.

okayyy .. I know in michigan at beaumont they're called techs too =) .. If I wanted to become a RN will I have to go to school over ?? and what is the difference bet. LPN & RN?

RNs have more autonomy and a greater scope of practice than LPNs. In the hospital, LPNs cannot do an initial assessment, do patient teaching or perform certain tasks like starting IVs.

CNAs can work .... as a CNA.

Some states have med techs, where you have to take a medication administration course and you can pass by-mouth medications to patients.

Not necessarily true. It depends on your state.
LPNs where Iam at can do pt teaching and start IVs. They can't do Care Plans, initial assessments or IV push meds.

It also depends on your particular facility. My hospital system is all RN, period.

You won't be "going to school over." You'll be going to school for nursing. Some programs allow CNAs to test out of fundamentals lab.
