  1. After you've finished your fundamentals class, you can become a student nurse technician. You don't have to have a CNA certificate.
  2. I am a Student Nurse Tech at Baptist. Starting pay is $9.30, but if you work weekends and/or nights, you get differentials. It's PRN, so they'll work with your schedule. Providence pays more ($11, I've heard), and the VA pays closer to $13.
  3. According to the AACN, you must hold a current, unencumbered nursing license, and you must have 1750 hours of clinical experience, 875 of which are accrued during the most recent year preceding application for certification. More information is here: http://www.aacn.org/WD/Certifications/content/ccrn.pcms?menu=Certification#Initial
  4. I've never had a premonition, but my sister has had several. A major one was when one night, she dreamed about fire. Just seeing flames everywhere. The next day, we found out that a very close family friend had died in a beach house fire with 6 other college students that night. She was also convinced that our family dog was going to die because she had a dream about a brown dog dying. He didn't die, but her friend called the next day saying that HER brown dog had died.
  5. RNs have more autonomy and a greater scope of practice than LPNs. In the hospital, LPNs cannot do an initial assessment, do patient teaching or perform certain tasks like starting IVs.
