Ok. I know, there are a ton of these threads out here and I am not going to do a search so don't suggest it.
Some of the ladies at my job want to buy me a stethoscope as a graduation/good luck/going away gift. All through school I had a Littman classic (which was fine until it suffered a terrible accident involving a gurney and a 370 lb patient). I recently got an ultrascope which I hate (can't hear a fargin' thing).
So..... any suggestions? I am going to work on an adult med/onc floor. I'm pretty sure I'll get a Littman... do you suggest any particular model over another? What has your experience been?
Thanks in advance. My hearing acuity is adequate, and so I'm not looking for any of those electronic sound-enhancing scopes.

Littman cardio
hmm what happened to the rest of my post?
Anyway, Littman Cardiology III
Is that the master cardiology, or another model?

I have the Master Cardiology and it's like listening to the difference between stereo vs hi-fi. You really can hear more, IMO.

I work Med/Tele/Onc and I have a Littmann Cardiology III. Love it. Also on sale at allheart right now too. That's when I got mine. WAY cheaper than any other site I've seen.
You can check out http://www.littmann.com to compare scopes.

I say get a Littmann Master Classic. I could hear great with mine. Didn't buy a Cardio III till I switched to Critical Care Nursing. For a med/surg floor, the master classic will suit you just fine! Good Luck!

i have a littman master cardio BUT i recently tried a DRG scope and it beats littman hands down, imo. plus you can get the DRG in titanium and it is so much lighter than the stainless steel littman's. and the price isn't that much different.

I would like to refer you to my original post, in which I stated I would not do a search, primarily because I am looking for info relevant to the population I will be nursing and my needs on the unit.
If you don't like that, put me on your ignore list.

I think your reasons for asking were legit.; sometimes there are opinions that don't make it to previous threads. You already prefaced this by saying you weren't going to do the search, so if that puts someone's nose out of joint, then that person should just, "Scroll with it, baby..."
Personally, I like the Littman Master Cardiology, no flipping around for bell/diaphragm (I also find the chest piece nicely doubles as a reflex hammer)
