super powers...

Nurses General Nursing

Just for fun!!!

Since everyone seems to think that nurses are somehow superhuman, if you could have one job related super power what would it be?

I would have the ability to control bowel movements. I would bring BM to the BM-less and be able to stop diarrhea with the wave of my wand!!! LOL!!!!:lol2:

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

mmm.....is the easy button already taken? I want an EASY night!

Specializes in Utilization Management.

I want super-speed!

Specializes in Tele, Renal, ICU, CIU, ER, Home Health..

I want the ability to tell patients exactly what time they will go to surgery/procedure in the morning. Until then, I just tell them 7:30am....when my shift is over. hehehehe. I know that's evil, but I only do it when they won't accept, "I don't know" as an answer.

Specializes in ICU, telemetry, LTAC.

I already have the power of the Iron Bladder, and the somewhat intermittent Power of Reading Awful Handwriting. It needs to be less intermittent and more steady though.

What I would like is the power to automatically be able to choose the best method to interact with my patients. Luckily for me, the nurse I work most often with has just that power and she's awesome! She can pick a tone of voice or whatnot that just fixes 'em right up most of the time, whereas I usually am too soft or too much of a mommy/drill sergeant. If she ever loses that ability I know I have to take that patient 'cause it's seriously not going to go well.

And while we're on fantasy I would like the power to think "shut up" and have people actually do so.

Specializes in ER.

I want to never have to wear those blue garbage bag gowns in a hot room ever again. Actually if I could live a life without PPD forever it would be fine with me.

I'd like to be able to feel what the patient feels for a split second at any time. So I know on a 1-10 scale exactly where they are, and I don't need to struggle to understand what's bothering the confused lol who can only complain of pain, but pointing to it is beyond her.

I want a little carrot on a stick, so I can lure the suits out of the department, and have them think it was their idea.

The ability to predict exact date and time of birth of a baby. Then I would take that capability to predict winning Lotto numbers and I would retire pronto from nursing.

my superpower would be to levitate people. this would alleviate the falls that occur because there are rules that we can not protect them from this because it is their right to fall . perhaps, there are no apparent injuries, perhaps they split their heads open or maybe break a bone or two. "Didn't you hear the personal alarm sound?"

by the time that goes off, unless your close enough, chances are good they're on the floor. and so it is wrong to put a table over someone unless they are eating/drinking. Just an example. Gone are the days we could protect people. I need to know who makes these rules up.:banghead:
