It wasn't much but I did get one. I got a $250 bonus for the first 40 hours after I finished orientation, $500 after 300 hours and another $500 after an additional 300 hours. I didn't have to sign a contract but it did only apply if I took the NOC shift. As a new grad I was just thankful to find a FT job so the little extra cash was like the cherry on top :)
our facility policy is NO sign-on bonuses. However, we award a bonus to employees who refer someone we hire for a particular position. These awards have time limits and jobs to fill are posted. For instance, right now we want 3 critical care nurses and a CRNA. If I referred someone who is hired, and stays at least a year I get $5000, half in 6 months and balance in 12 months. Once those positions are filled the offer dies.

so who has received a sign-on bonus at a new job? How much and how long of a contract do you have to sign? Just curious. . .
