most nurses don't get a salary (set amount), they get a wage (hourly). with that said, starting wages differ by area, in my area rn's start at around $20 hr (it really doesn't matter if they have a bsn, adn or diploma).

WOW, loaded question....IT DEPENDS..on a lot. We always think we ae worth more than what we are...and it will be defined by how they judge new hires.
Keep asking around, but be prepared to start at the beginning and work your way up.

It depends on the area you live. In North Texas, a new grad makes starts out at approx $24. I work with some nurses that make $40 something, they have been with the company for years and are capped out.

Alot of hospitals in my area pay by union set wages so check in your area for a nursing union - look on the pay scale and pick the lowest amount because I'm sure that is what we will make. Wage also depends on area - the higher the cost to live the more money that is made but it really all works out to be about the same.

In upstate NY, new grads start at $20.50 to $22.50/hr. Some places pay $1/hr or so more if you have a BSN.
As I said, it is a loaded question. As a nurse in Ohio we had a union, as a nurse in S.C. we do not. But, that aside, I have a friend who has been an LPN and just got her R.N. She thought all the years she worked as an LPN should have given her more than what they offered her as an R.N. (with in the same company) They offered her no more than any new R.N. would get fresh out of school. She is so angry that she wants to leave and go elsewhere! But, most places judge you by your new license, not your old one. No matter how much responsibility we have as LPN's....it is not an R.N. It is like starting over. I worked as a CNA for 10 years before getting my LPN....should I have been paid more for being a CNA prior to being a LPN? Nope, was based on me being an LPN.

It depends. I as a lpn make 22.50 and I'm a new grad. I live in md.
Also my mother made more as a lpn with 4 yrs. Exp than a new grad rn. When she took her RN job as a new gead she took a 8 dollar pay cut. Sometimes experience pays the most no matter where or what your title is.
