Hi everyone. I graduate from a BSN program in May and already have accepted a nursing position dependant on my passing the NCLEX. I recently found out that I am pregnant (only 4 weeks along) but now I am wondering if I should let the manager that offered me the job know now?

No. That's way too early.

They are not by law allowed to use pregnancy as a factor in hiring you. At least, that is what one hospital told me when I was interviewing and mentioned I was hoping to become pregnant. However, don't throw a monkey wrench in the gears at this point! It is truly none of their business.

Nope, one it's too early. Second, it's none of their business.

I would wait at least until you start your second trimester and know that the pregnancy is healthy at least.

Unless you need an accommodation RIGHT NOW (and you probably don't) - I wouldn't. Congratulations on graduating and best of luck!

So true...you know the trick lawyers use during a trial when they'll make a dramatic statement, the other attorney will object, and the judge will "allow" the objection and instruct the jury to disregard the statement. Well you can't un-ring a bell. They can't "forget" the statement and regardless of the judges instruction the information is still in their head. Unlawful to discriminate against you for being pregnant or not...if they know your're pregnant, that information will be in their head and will be hard for them to NOT factor it in regarding their hiring decision; they can easily rationalize another reason.

Good advice above.

All of the above! And Congrats!!!
