Preceptor fired

I'm supposed to finish nursing school next week. Yay!!! I have only 4 shifts of preceptorship remaining. My preceptor was just fired from the facility. She was supposed to turn in paperwork for her evaluation of me. The deadline is next week. Her evaluation is a graduation requirement. I'm sooo screwed.

Holy moly!!! What does your advisor say??

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

Talk to your instructors ASAP. Can you be reassigned for the remaining hours, at least?

You may also be able to talk to your preceptor about doing your evaluation, regardless.

Big hugs!!! Good luck with everything!!

What a pain. Talk to your school ASAP about what you need to do. You didn't make it this far for nothing & it's not your fault they got fired. Let us know what happens. Good luck!

I would definitely agree with the above. Talk to your program instructors ASAP. Personally, I'd send an email to my instructor to notify the program of the issue and schedule a meeting with them as well so that you can be assigned a new preceptor ASAP and finish on time. This isn't your fault, but how you react to it may make a big difference in how they handle things.

I don't think you're screwed at all. None of this is your fault- and the school knows that.

It'll get sorted out - I'm sure of that.

Exactly.

It will get sorted out if you realize the ball is in your court. In other words, it's up to you to make sure things progress. A bump in the road, yes, but not a wall.

Like others have said, just start making the appropriate calls to those in charge.

I also certainly hope you've kept copies of check-off lists thus far. (I'm assuming your preceptor has been checking off on skills lists to date.)

yeah they can work with you. Maybe you can just talk your way through those skills and describe what you did and get them signed off by your instructor.
