Hello Fellow Nurses!

Well, I'm a Student that is about to enter the clinical area for the very first time (In January) and i was wondering about you experienced nurses, how do you do your hair? what is the best way to keep it? And the fastest to setup each day?

My hair is curly and is long and i'm considering cutting it very short (the pixie cut perhaps?) but still i want to look as clean and neat as possible and at the same time to do it very quick each morning.

As always the school is asking me to have my hair without touching my coat for obvious reasons (I use the traditional white uniform because of my school), so what's the best way?

Thank you in advance.:nurse::yeah::heartbeat

Pixie cut sounds good. Very low maintenance. I had it done before during school till I graduated. Shampoo, rinse and dry. I didn't even have to comb it because it was very short and I loved it. Helps me focus on more important things like studies and clinicals.

My hair is long (past my shoulders) and wavy. I just pull it back into a messy bun and sucure the fly aways with some hair gel. Very easy.

Pixie cut might not be the best depending on how curly your hair is. I tried a pixie cut in LPN school and ended up having more work to straighten it or use bobby pins to pull it back.

You can always ask the hair stylist. He/she should have some great advise.

Good luck with your hair and school! :)

Short hair is more work- especialy if it is curly. Just pull your hair up girl. If you cut it that short it is going to need a lot of maintenance which means time and money. In my school we just had to have it out of our eyes and faces- meaning a pony tail.

Clinical is only 2 days a week. It is not like it is everday.

Just do a pony tail or a bun. No need to make drastic changes.

A layered above the collar cut if you really want to cut your hair. If you want to keep it long, I agree with the pony tail or bun idea also.

I have had short hair for about 7 years. Personally, I can't wait until it gets long enough that I can pull it into a ponytail and go!

Everyone thinks short hair is so much easier to work with. I like my cut/style, but I have to "do" my hair every day for work. With long hair, you can pull it into a ponytail or a bun, etc. and not have to worry about it.

Just my opinion :-)

Short hair is a lot more work unless you go INCREDIBLY short and keep it there.

Just invest in some good hair clips, rubber bands etc. That is far far easier than anything else.

I agree with everyone....I was always a short hair girl but I grew my hair out over the summer before starting nursing school. Short hair is a ton more work than a quick bun or ponytail!

I dunno. I have a pixie cut. 5 minutes in the morning and that's the last I ever think about it. But you have to have the right kind of face to pull it off. Face shape I mean. I'm not a fan of the messy bun (or the tightly wrapped kind for that matter) because it's messy. Many of them make you look like you just rolled out of bed. Add scrubs with the bottom of the hems worn out because the flare style is too long for a lot of people and from the back it just doesn't look all that professional.

i despise messing w/my hair.

i've long hair...brush, twist, and clip.

done.
